Dagger03
Tuesday 05-August-2014 REDBRIDGE 2 HORNCHURCH 0 HFC – Callum Chafer – Courtney Homans - Wakunkayilu Mike Nduakulu - Okwute Izuchukwu – Frank Griffin – Joel Appiah-Kubi – Ben Abdoulaye Traore – Jamie Hursit – Moses Ashikodi – Aaron Beckles – George Whitelock Sam Burton for Abdulaye 67 Frank Holland for Ashikodi at half time Bobby Moorton for Griffin 67 Billy Pearce for for Whitelock 72 Joe Scott for for Beckles 55 Scorers – Brad Holland 33, Bostry Bansende 88 Hornchurch played in purple / black / black Redbridge – all blue KO was at 7.35 pm It was as experimental Hornchurch team, consisting of reserve, youth team players, and trialists, that took the field at a somewhat bumpy Redbridge. But has there ever been a case of Hornchurch having two full internationals in a reserve side before? Hornchurch fell behind in the 33rd minute after a dreadful pass back was followed by a miskick by Callum Chafer as the ball bobbled, which gave Brad Hooper an easy opportunity to open the score. Previously George Whitelock had lobbed the ball over the home keeper to score, only for the goal to be given offside, whilst Aaron Beckles and Jamie Hursit both went close. Several second half changes were made, two of which were enforced, due to injuries to Moses Ashikodi and Aaron Beckles, and although Hornchurch had an equal share of the attacking play, the only goal came two minutes from time when another defensive lapse allowed Bostry Bansende a simple tap in. cup of tea
As a technical exercise, it was probably a useful game for Jimmy to check out some players. As a game it was a bit on the dull side.
