It was as experimental Hornchurch team, consisting of reserve, youth team players, and trialists, that took the field at a somewhat bumpy Redbridge.

But has there ever been a case of Hornchurch having two full internationals in a reserve side before?

Hornchurch fell behind in the 33rd minute after a dreadful pass back was followed by a miskick by Callum Chafer as the ball bobbled, which gave Brad Hooper an easy opportunity to open the score.

Previously George Whitelock had lobbed the ball over the home keeper to score, only for the goal to be given offside, whilst Aaron Beckles and Jamie Hursit both went close.

Several second half changes were made, two of which were enforced, due to injuries to Moses Ashikodi and Aaron Beckles, and although Hornchurch had an equal share of the attacking play, the only goal came two minutes from time when another defensive lapse allowed Bostry Bansende a simple tap in.
