Supporters Association
Let's 'ave it! Bit of nostalgia for you. Almost 13 years ago we also played Grays at New Lodge for the opening fixture. That day Grays were managed by our Craig Edwards! Playing for Grays were - Richard Halle (19 & scored!), Alex Fiddes, Craig Edwards Jnr & Kevin 'Rambo' Ramsey...! Other notable names for Grays that day were Sammy Cooper (Boooooo!), Dave Rainford, Glenn Southgate & Andy Douglas. Blues won 3-2 in front of attendance of 707 (our league average that season was 631). Same result and attendance this Saturday would be pukka... JoeV93
Feeling positive about this season. Got a great squad of players for the campaign ahead. Hopefully as Halle has said we can turn New Lodge into a fortress again and keep the away form from last season and we could have a real chance of going up. I've pushed this game out quite a lot the last few days so all do the same if you can! Look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

blue pilgrim
Every genuine football fan is optimistic at the start of the season. Sadly for most the bubble bursts within the first month. Lets hope for some entertaining games and see where we end up come Spring. Also less postponements this Season would be welcome.
Bill of Shenfield
Won 2-0, goals from Scott and Benjamin. Rather scrappy at times but a win is a win.
billericayboy28
I think at some points last season we had 1 gameplan and that was that, this game i thought we mixed it up a lot more and every player in the midfield and attack is capable of playing nice football and when we did that we played very well. Ryan Scott was my MOTM for me and deserved his goal too, also thought the assist by Appiah (i think) for the 2nd goal by Benjamin was superb. A deserved win and although the new signings made mistakes here and there i think all have great potential. Shaw sometimes made poor decisions but i think will become a good player for us in the future when he cuts out some of the mistakes

jl
Thought we were a bit tentative first half although the chance count was fairly even. We got better as the game went on and deserved the win in the end. If you add in Halle, Sheehan, Imudia and Liburd we look to have assembled a useful squad. My MoTM was Scott as well and I thought the front two both had decent games. Great to start with a win and looking forward to Tuesday which will be a tough game for us. GazzaBTFC
Great to start the season off on a win and the club was working on all levels... Everyone, both on and off the pitch raised the bar... Man of the match for me... Ryan Scott... Pictures will be on the web site soon but I have one which I found amusing.... well.... Note that Glenn has made a tackle to win the ball...but why is Callum all grins behind him? Begs a caption methinks....
blue pilgrim
Grays worked hard and made it difficult for us, but in the end we deserved the 3 points. I felt we lacked a bit of pace out wide but that changed when Junior Appiah came on and his cross for the second goal was superb. I agree about Ryan Scott for MOM. On a day when an over fussy ref was trigger happy on missed- timed tackles, his defending was superb. A potential partnership with our latest signing looks very promising on paper. Decent gate of 420 and the pitch is looking good. COYB
Rich.m
What a nice way to start the season, clean sheet and 3 points. When I turned up and saw the team sheet i was overly happy because we have kept a good core from last year who know how our club works and the new additions have looked settled in pre season.....then the word starts going around that we have signed another centre back with ryman experience... This shows what good work everyone is doing to have players commiting to us. Nice to be back in amongst the stands and positive vibes which does help the team out. The team looked good in the new kit (can we have a squad photo this season) And personally I liked seeing Chris benjamin make the ball stick to him, this will be a big bonus when we need to relieve pressure on our defence in games this season. Good start long way to go, keep moving in the right direction
