Burnham v Slough

Recommended Posts

Sounds like we are going to have to baton down the hatches sometime this weekend,as stormy weather is on the way.

Let's hope it doesn't affect Saturday afternoon !

Good news about this new Northern Premier player arriving.Sounds like he was well thought of,at his previous clubs by the fans.

Made me laugh on the Ilkeston Town fans forum, Darryl Thomas was popular for his great goals and his equally glaring misses !

Something to look forward to !  :D

Real start of the season.........glad the managers' expectations and ambitions are high ....... maybe we settle for mid table and total safety this season and aim for further progress in a year or so when we know we have a ground approved for football at this level.

Having said that I am sure the whole club would enjoy the dilemma of back to back promotions as a problem well wrth solving

So to all management, players and us lot................have a great season beginning with a win tomorrow !

Buzzing for the game tomorrow now, even if it wasn't the glamorous opening tie I'd envisaged. I'm not a fan of pre-season at all, although Maidenhead was great for the beer festival (the club needs to make that happen again next year), it's great to have proper football back again and a whole new division to look forward to.

If there's one thing we haven't done to well over the last few years it's local derbies. Burnham will be well up for this one so we will need to match their effort. It would be fantastic to get the campaign underway with 3 points against our local rivals, I have every faith in our managers and talented young team - here's to another great season for the Rebels!

Really looking forward to the new season tomorrow and watching some proper football again. Great to start it with a local derby and it would be fantastic to get 3 points on the board. Just want to wish Baker, Underwood and the all of the lads the best of luck this season I have every faith in you all. Here's to a very successful season!

often the same when we play Burnham or SYCOB but has no affect on how fired up those teams always seem to be against us. fingers crossed we can combat that and get a win. feels like more often than not we leave this sort of match on a downer the last few years

as the managers have said as long as at full time we can say our lads gave their all not much more that we can ask

Oh what a feeling to walk away from Burnham with a win. Heart in mouth towards the end when Jake punched the ball away in a crowded area and the ball went back into the box.

Got home, put on Sky Sports and great to see the scoreline on the viddy printer at the bottom.

Scrappy first half, few chances, great finishes by Dyer and Jake.

Excellent team performance resulting in a 2-0 victory. Dyer opened the scoring with a superb lob over the keeper before jake parsons wrapped it up in injury time after an unselfish cut back from mcclurg. Thomas and Scott Harris both had chances in the last 5 minutes to secure the win but both dragged their chances wide whilst our best chance other than that was a dyer free header from a corner which was seconds before the half time whistle.

Of the players thought witham looks exciting with yorke forming a decent partnership with Hollis at the back, frith doing nothing wrong in centre midfield and Thomas looking dangerous when he came on. Out of all the newbies though Moran had a storming game at right back being a strong contender for man of the match alongside the tireless short and Dobson, who looked a totally different player to the back end of last season.

All in all a great start and finally a win against burnham!!!

Good win, although felt we were far from our fluent best, but it was always going to be difficult for us on the opening day, in a local derby.

Thought George Short made a vital interception to a through ball at 0-1. Out of the new boys was impressed with Moran & in particular Reece Yorke today as Sommers only really had one second-half shot to save .

Onto Hereford we go!

Before any criticises the referee for booking three of our players they were all fully justified! Great value for the win and I thought all of the new players fitted in well. Excellent to start with 3 points and a clean sheet for Somers!! :-)
