Leatherhead V Slough

There really is no reason we shouldn't be confident at The Gore  We may not have had the pre season we would have wished for but theirs has been dire  Last three games   lost to Binfield 5-3 lost to AFC Hayes 3-1 lost to Maidenhead 4-1 Im looking forward to this one.

Pre season results count for nothing once the real stuff starts!!! I remember a pre season where we lost 4 of 6 games, but started with 10 wins from 10...

This is a local derby and will be extremely tough.

Neil same thing happened to Slough i beiieve it was during our Ryman Isthmian days we won all pre season games and the got about 3 points in our first 10 games we all thought what a great season we are going to have and then the shock set in.

I prefer the Brian Clough approach to show the same respect to all teams, in fact he would go on about how good the other team is even when they were bottom of the league because it took the pressure off his team, and look where it got him.

Too right Lino, we try to respect all teams and never under-estimate anyone we play.

Good job our old mate Hotspur doesn't post on here any more, he always hated that about us! ;)

Trouble was though from what I was told he was usually right.Still I was a huge Cloughie  fan so I am pleased you follow his lead.

Good game on a cracking pitch, no wonder their groundsman is up for awards, but some sloppy defending cost us, rather now than when points matter. Really impressed with George Frith and Alex Wittam who both improve with every game they play

I'm sure The Swans will appreciate that comment, considering their pitch was under inches of water for days and days during the last floods we had.

A stopped clock is right twice a day.

When you are permanently saying something negative, you are going to be right sometimes.

As you also would be if you said something positive enough times. For example a lot of misguided folk think Rooney is world class, but he never has been or ever will be, like wise Beckham its all about Hype .

When you turn up to a ground and they have a 1/4 of it as a car wash they are not expecting many, that the bar is a mobile van, when your niece asks just before kick off where the Burnham fans are, and when the home team don't even have a physio then you know you are playing a village team.

Well done to Slough for winning Burnham's cup final.

You may be saying it in a tongue in cheek way,Rebel 1965,but for a village team  they have a stadium, which would be a huge plus for our town side, and Burnham do remarkably well considering their fan base, and after all they are playing at the same level as us.

So I don't really think we can take the piss out of them.
