Leatherhead V Slough

Never mind the old bit, people have to realise that these guys have families who put up with them playing every Saturday and training Tuesday and Thursday evenings so going away during friendlies I think is fair enough. Better that than during the season.

(Shut up BR we don't play)

Good game I thought & one we were in control of until the last 20 minutes when the fact we had 3 subs (2 of which we used first-half) and they had about 8 which they made in the second-half told in the end really as they (obviously) looked a lot fresher I thought .

Good to see Scott Harris out there (not sure if he was meant to be or not) and overall a decent performance I thought although we might have done a bit better with their final two goals. Now onto the real stuff!

Good game on a cracking pitch, no wonder their groundsman is up for awards, but some sloppy defending cost us, rather now than when points matter. Really impressed with George Frith and Alex Wittam who both improve with every game they play

Enjoyed the game and really should have won despite being very short on numbers and some sloppy defending.

Even first half and a  very good equalising goal scored by Smithy.

Second half we came out and started with a bang and cruised into a 3-1 lead.

Maybe tiredness crept in with our lack of subs but we certainly let them back into the game with some poor defending.

Alex Witham continues to impress and I thought George Frith had a good game.

Overall pleased with the performance and sets us up nicely for next week.

Good final pre-season game which showed that the players are starting to understand each others play and feeding the ball around well.

Also good to see we want to pass the ball rather than the hoof and hope which we reverted to a few times last year and did not work.

I would think Neil and Jon now know the line up for Burnham and with the players with injuries and suspensions coming back in there looks like there will be plenty of options as the season gets going.

Will only know how well we will do in this league once we have played a few of the alleged bigger clubs.

Next Saturdays game against the village club will not be a true reflection as this always throws up a twist or two as it is Burnham's cup final!

Regarding pre-season it's not been the best with injuries, results and having 2 cancelled but hopefully we'll have around 18 to choose from for the Burnham game. Having only been to one friendly I can't really comment on the new players but from various reports it sounds like we've gained a few decent players to add to an already strong squad so we should be confident going into the new season.

What Slough side would you pick for Burnham game,RR? Bearing in mind we will have no Smithy,Knighty and Sean to choose.

We've still got to hear about the loan signing, so as soon as we get the final squad details (hopefully today or tomorrow) I'll give you my starting 11 for the Burnham game.

Yes, pre-season hasn't been the best for the reasons you've stated. Ideally yesterday should have given us the chance to field what should have been close to our starting 11 for next Saturday.

Still, things don't always go to plan and I think yesterday's game proved that no matter what team we put out we can be competitive and produce a decent performance.

Yeah I'd agree with that. It's not been the best pre-season in terms of injuries & preparation, but in terms of performance barring the Windsor game (when we were not at the races) it's been pretty good & we've made some good additions.

Is George Ehui a triallist or has he been signed?
