Just in terms of the on loan striker, that actually fell through shortly after the fans forum last night, which is a shame, as would have been a great signing for us, and would have excited a number of people.

 

Hopefully Scott Harris gets the all clear Tuesday, however Adam Cornell is struggling, so we will need to look at another option, at least short term.

What is it with us and not having strikers to start the season :(

 

Talking of strikers I see that Charlie MPI has signed for Hungerford

 

He would have been a good one for us. Pace to burn,also seems a nice bloke and not a poseur,like some.I believe Bakes and Unders would get the best from him.Pity it's not to be.

 

Wonder who the mystery loan forward we've missed out on, was?

With Scott Harris awaiting his scan results, Adam Cornell struggling with an ankle injury and Eddie suspended for the first 2 games this is an area we have been working hard on to get someone in on a short term basis.

 

In all honesty we were very confident of having someone in place for tomorrow's game and I spoke to the lad we wanted yesterday morning and he was very keen to come for a month. However circumstances at his club changed last night and I took a call during the fans forum where I found out they could no longer let him out on loan.

 

Mpi was very much on our radar but we can't even get close to what Hungerford have given him.

 

Sam Barratt was another option and he trained with us again last night but he's been offered a very good deal by Maidenhead and he told us today he will be joining them. Our belief is he won't get a lot of game time there but I hope for his sake we are wrong and that he does well as he's a good lad with lots of potential.

 

We do have another iron in the fire but this won't happen in time for tomorrow's game unfortunately so we go with a small squad to Leathehead which I will post on the match thread in a moment.

In terms of those missing we have the following players away this weekend...

 

Tom Moran, Ryan Parsons, Jake Parsons, James Dobson, George Short.

 

And the following injured....

 

Luke Knight, Scott Harris, Adam Cornell, Warren Harris, Adam Foulser.

 

Not ideal but it is what it is and we look forward to what should be a very good game against another side promoted via the playoffs last season and preparing for life at Step 3.

Have to say I'm a little disappointed with Tom Moran not being available for tomorrows game.

 

He's been on holiday for a couple of weeks which is fair enough but now he's going to miss our last pre-season game. 

 

There obviously must be a good reason for missing tomorrow but I just feel players should show a bit more commitment with the season being only a week away.

It was 2 planned holidays which we knew about to be honest.

 

We actually asked our lads that if they were to take holidays we would prefer them to be in pre season, and not during the season.

 

Tom is a fit lad, and will be looking after himself this week, as he is away with family.

I accept what you say Bakes but if it was me I'd make darn sure, If at all possible, I'd be available to play in our last couple of pre-season games.

RR, you won't get any argument from me. I know Bakes and I were both the same when we played, we took our holidays in May/June, but it does seem that young lads today have different attitudes. (I am really starting to sound old!)

 

Not having a go at Tom or any other player on here over it but of course it frustrates us. We'd love to be putting out a side tomorrow that will be starting at Burnham but we can't do so. For what it's worth I do know we are far from being the only club in this situation.

School holiday's have only just started so now people are in no position but take them now.

11 hours ago on twitter he was complaining of it feeling like someone is "stabbing him in the throat with a meat knife". Probably tonsillitis and he'd be fine for next week but meant more generally going forward as sure Matty Bonnet is a little while away
