Met Police v Slough

Familiar face came on second half in the shape of Adrian Sear. Now, if we can sign Searsy and get him fit what a player we will have on our hands.

Top bloke too. Stayed drinking with us after the St Neots game at their place long after all the other players had gone. Ask Windsor Rebel, if he can remember!! I may be wrong but I think he won player of the year for them that season, which would have been no mean feat playing alongside that Junior Canoe lad.

However, I think we have got good options in midfield and maybe other areas are a priority.

Any clue to those areas you think we're a bit short on Stuntman?

We certainly do seem to be a bit over loaded in midfield and will most probably have to be trimmed down but a fit Adrian Sear would walk into any team in the Southern Premier.

Just to clarify Searsy is coming back from injury and has only been able to get one pre-season training session under his belt (which was with us 2 weeks ago) plus the 20 minute run out last night and for that reason he is clearly not where he needs to be in terms of his fitness. He will train with us tomorrow but then goes on holiday on Saturday for 10 days so in all honesty is not someone we can consider at the moment, particularly given the great options we have in midfield currently.

Having said that we know he is a quality player and is also a very good character and we hope he will train with us when he returns from holiday but we'll have to assess our squad numbers once he is fit again before making any kind of decision on him.

Difficult for me to say Eddie as I've not been to many pre-season games and those I've been at I've probably spent more time in the bar than watching the action! I just think we are very strong centre of the park with the addition of Luke Knight and Rummy due back later in the year.

I'd say the wide areas might be a concern with Wazza and Jake injured although when I spoke with Jake at Maidenhead he didn't seem too concerned. I was impressed with Sam Barratt's little cameo against Windsor but it sounds like we might miss out there. Maybe another defender? Not sure if we've signed Tom Moran but he would possibly fit the bill.

I'm sure the gaffers have it all in hand.

Tom Moran's versatile and can play center back or full back.

Out wide we have Dobbo and looks like Alex Witham can play there as well.

My one slight concern at this moment would be up front which seems strange to say as we scored over 100 goals last season.

Ed Smith is getting his fitness back and JD seems to be OK fitness wise at the moment. There is a question mark over Scott Harris which we won't know how we stand until August 5th when he gets the results of his scan. Not sure how fit and sharp Adam Cornell is at the moment.

I know we have midfielders who can score goals but if Scott Harris does get the ok how long before he gets up to match fitness and if he doesn't that will leave us with only 3 forwards.

I'm sure the gaffers have things in hand but that is my only slight concern at the moment.

Aren't we a bit short of cover at left back,if Ryan Parsons gets injured.I know people will say Ben Edwards can play there but I wouldn't say him or Dobbo are what is needed there.

Pity Gary McDonald has left,he seemed a ready made fit for Wooz and as cover for Ryan.

Alas I couldn't get to last night's game, how did the two new George's play?

Three George's in one side, now that will get confusing! But perhaps not visually!

Georges Ehui played at right back and considering he's down as a midfielder he did a good job and certainly didn't look out of place.

George Frith showed some nice touches and did ok in a central midfield position.

Georges is a right back or midfielder, and with Sean missing the start of the season, we are looking at him presently.

We expect to be in a better position come the fans forum tomorrow night to explain a bit more about the lads with us.

To be honest they are all good players in their own rights, and I hate describing them as trialists, as they all have decent pedigree, they are just looking to earn a deal with us.

I see a player called Risbridger was in the bench for Marlow last night against Maidenhead. Wonder if it was Gareth.

Can understand if he has joined them or has decided to try his luck there as we have a lot of midfield options - plus Rummy returning November I'm guessing.

Thanks for the info on Georges.

Only got the info that he was a midfielder from his CV on line.

Yes it was Gareth, he can not really commit 100% to us this season in the way we need, so Marlow is local for him, and he is going to see how he gets on there.

Not trying to sound harsh but Gareth isn't the player we need this season and Slough's not the team he needs to be playing in IMO.

I'm not sure Marlow is the right fit for him either, given Mark Bartley's ambitions for his side although I did think Gareth looked a bit sharper in his pre-season cameo sub appearance,he made for us against Maidenhead.

Truly hope he has a good season wherever he plays. He deserves a lot of luck, being what he's been through with injury.
