michael
leader of the opposition has kindly allowed additional leave of absence on tuesday ,so really looking forward to this one. i imagine Martin Allen will bring a strong squad so will be a really good test. always had time for the slightly idiosyncratic Allen from his Cheltenham days-and at one stage-hoped he would have got the Margate job. never short of a few quips. trust he will have his players swimming in the sea and training on the beach on tuesday afternoon before marching them to HDP. maybe a bit of jellyfish flagellation to test their pain thresholds. interesting to see how ex player John Akinde has progressed into a serious conference striker. i remember about 7 seasons ago when as a raw kid-,Cookie and me saying he 'had something',whilst the vast majority said he was rubbish. michael
I did see him play for alfreton v fgr last season. frankly-at that level he wasn't that special. maybe in attwood, prior and moss we have better players anyway. Interesting comparisons to be made on tuesday ?

dannyriding
My mates a barnet fan and is cacking himself at the thought of playing margate lol they have a very strong team this season, and with martin allen as manager (wiley ol dog) it will be the biggest test IMO for Margate - you coming down this season Rob, you never know we might even get a result against your lot for a change..... michael
forgot-another 'old boy' in charlie macdonald . If starting line up is as posted-a real real test-N'gala,Yiadom plus alleged £125k rated KMB to really test Riv's full back credentials tonight. can't believe i'm getting excited about a friendly game-but this is a proper and serious test

DomBlueBoy
A good game and a proper test of a what a Ryman league game will be like. Thought Barnet were average and wouldn't want to watch them every week as style of play wasn't great. Long ball up to big Jon akinde and he heads on to charlie macdonald will be the trademark goal for them this year ! Jon akinde was rubbish with us and he is still rubbish - just a big lump to be a nuisance, push defenders around and jump for headers- not so good with the ball on the floor. Would assume Brown has got his starting 11 sorted now, based on the friendlies I've seen I would choose -Bull, Rivere (assuming a new right back isn't bought in) Johnson, Stuart, Rents, Wills, Allen, Taylor, Phipp, Moss, Prior (would be tempted to play luke Moore upfront with moss) Looking forward to the season !! michael
my starting line up would be as started last night. enjoyable game . Barnet probably edged it, (bull m-of m probably says why ) but margate matched the full time barnet most of the time and was an impressive performance all round i thought. Really liked our midfield-phipp,wills, allen, taylor-proper midfield players working well together-and for me-midfield is the key to success-good stuff. Its only opinions-but for me Akinde was not rubbish when with us-and he looked a real handful to me last night. i always thought the then young akinde was good when with us;and has improved substantially-looked a handful to me-but best ask Beales, johnson, wassemer or stuart what they thought-i was simply watching and not getting accidently elbowed in the nuts. . Cookie
No need for a right back replacement, we already have a "class" player there already. Again Riviere was magnificent and is certainly looking the part in that position. Akinde not so good 1st half but I too thought he looked a handful in the 2nd half (running with the ball) Overall I can't fault any player,as has been the case in the games I've watched thus far. No-one seems to be underplaying and as a unit they are now all looking comfortable with each other. Substitutes: Its unusual for me to say this but any substitute/s coming on are looking to be just be as good as,at the least,as the man he is replacing. Very refreshing to know.
