michael
sadly the bad news most were expecting main thoughts with player for full recovery, but shame for club and squad overall just the same.. AS TB states though-Rivs was superb when i saw him at Dover-and reports suggest the same in other games. I think Rivs may struggle to get a regular spot in centre midfield,so hope he is given the gig at right back, where again-i think he has been superb. will miss Nelsons additional height in defence-as to me-one area of relative weakness ,is that we still look vulnerable in centre of defence in air-albeit at dover-elder and reid were better quality than most ryman strikers;and otherwise, from what i have seen-both defensively and going forward-rivs offers as much as nelson. If he shines again v Barnet-where he will get a proper test against better quality opposition-hope the funding is kept under wraps for a bit to strengthen further elsewhere if required. again-all the best to mitchell nelson-and hope the club support him fully during recuperation, mainly for his sake-but also to demonstrate that it is a caring club, which in turn will attract players to the club
Cookie
"will miss Nelsons additional height in defence-as to me-one area of relative weakness ,is that we still look vulnerable in centre of defence" I thoroughly agree with those comments Michael from what I've seen. v Folkestone we were second best for most part in that area. Jamie Stuart is a first rate captain, always talking to the others, assembling them together for last minute chats urging & encouraging them on but because of his lack of height he comes out second best with high balls into the box. Maybe he is better than he has shown and is saving his "timing" for the league games proper. As for all his other skills I can't fault him. I have been impressed with every single player out there but more impressed with the way they are gelling together as a unit. They seem to be adjusting to each others style of play just in time.Cracking preparation in my opinion and coming together very nicely indeed..
