Tel
Ashford continue their build-up on Friday evening, when Wessex League Andover Town visit Short Lane. Andover have been promoted to the Premier Division of the Wessex League this season after winning the League’s Division One last time round, losing just three matches in the process. It would seem they possess a considerable strike force having already hit six and eight goals respectively in two of their own pre-season matches. It should be a good test for Ben Murray’s side. ASHFORD TOWN MX 3 - 2 ANDOVER TOWN ASHFORD going 1 - 0 up by half time ANDOVER then went 2 - 1 up. ASHFORD scored twice more with the last goal resulting from a PENALTY from an excellent move down the left.
Swifty
Good result, that, if only in a friendly. Andover Town caused many eyebrows to be raised last season when they were voted into The Wessex League having just formed. They're the 'rep' team of Sparsholt College in Andover and, if I remember rightly, the plan is / was to have a college or some form of lecture theatre within their home ground. Knocking Alan Hansen's "you can't win with kids" theory for six, they won Wessex Division One at a canter. I hopped one of their cup games last season and they were excellent. Just glad they're in a parallel league to ours and not the same one. To repeat the start, though, good result!
