Neil Baker
Hi Guys, As reported by Hayes and Yeading on their twitter site, we are going over to their 4g tomorrow morning to play against a side that they are putting together. We know one of the guys well there, and he has managed to get a side together in a short space of time, and we will be using it as a training exercise which will include 3 x 30 minute thirds and will start at 11am. Cheers Bakes
Mark44
Good stuff at such short notice. Just shows it's who you know I saw on twitter that Adam Cornell is injured. How many are missing for tomorrow?
Neil Baker
Still have problems on the injury front, hence why losing the Totton game may not be the end of the world.... Adam is still struggling, Jake is away but still injured, Tom Moran still away, Warren injured, Hatchett and Foulser injured plus also Luke Knight has also picked up a groin strain which he did in the Maidenhead game, but was not really aware of it until Tuesday (however will probably only be 10 days). So still quite light, however we are starting to see a bit of light, hopeful of having Warren available for the start of the season, Eddie and George will both return tomorrow, and Johnnie will get a 60 minutes in also. Chris
Bakes, how is Scott Harris' injury. Is he likely to be out for a while like Adam Foulser? Also anyone else likely to struggle for the Burnham game? Cheers
Neil Baker
Scott has had an MRI Scan and he gets his results on the 5th of August!! We are hopeful that he will get the all clear, and will resume training and be involved for the first game of the season.

Jon Underwood
Won 2-0 with Eddie scoring both. Excellent workout in very hot conditions against a young hard-working Hayes side. Lots of positives, most importantly no injuries!

Ian
I thought Clurgy played well when in the middle and I was also impressed with Gary McDonald's dominance and leadership at the back.

Jon Underwood
We played 3 different sides and 3 different formations in the 3 x 30 minute periods. Squad was as follows with everyone getting at least 60mins... Jake Somerville, Sean Fraser, Ryan Parsons, Guy Hollis, Reece Yorke, Gary MacDonald, Ben Edwards, Jamie McClurg, George Short, George Frith, Seb Castello, Alex Witham, James Dobson, Johnnie Dyer, Eddie Smith. Reading Rebel
what is happening with Frith and Witham, will they be part of the squad for this season? With George Frith having been at Woking for the last two seasons and Alex Witham a regular in the Biggleswade team, they certainly fit the bill on paper. 3spirit seems to have been impressed with both of them after the Maidenhead game. 3spirit
Judging anyone after one or two pre-season games is ludicrous but I did think both players looked energetic and maybe the sort of players that Bakes and Unders will get the best from. Must say, think Sam Barrett is worth a punt, too even if only to play a bit part this season. What's refreshing is that our managers will take a chance on younger players, rather than sticking to the tried and tested/proven Premier players.Obviously it's getting the balance right between youth and experience. Who remember's the young full back that had played for Celtic among other sides, who played nearly every game pre-season for us,a few years back under Steve Bateman.Come the time of the league games,he disappeared without trace because Simon Sweeney was always going to be Steve's automatic choice. I agreed with Steve that Simon Sweeney was the first choice player but what a waste of a triallist and to me,not fair on the young lad,who had played his heart out trying to impress in pre-season,only not to get a look in come the league commencement. Yet he could have easily been a good understudy/cover for 'Sweens' that season, and may have got better under a player like Simon Sweeney. Taking a risk now and again is better than not trying at all.

Reading Rebel
I had assumed this was a closed doors effort........................did many turn up to watch I think it was the same as last pre-season on H&Y's 4G pitch and open to anyone to go and watch. Not sure who turned up but sure it wasn't many.

Taking a risk now and again is better than not trying at all. As you say, I don't think we've seen enough of the trialists to really make a judgement on whether we think they are worth a place in the squad. Sam Barratt - looks a young, quick player, who could be worth persevering with for the future. Tom Moran - from what I've seen of him I've been quite impressed. Again he's a young lad who will only get better with experience. It's probably a bit unfortunate for him that he plays in a position where we already have Guy Hollis, Reese Yorke and Gary MacDonald. On the plus side he looks versatile enough to cover at right back, as he did against Marlow, while Sean Fraser's away and add some competition for the right back position. George Frith and Alex Witham - one has been part of a Conference team squad and the other has had a season playing for a Southern Premier Team. Hopefully we will get to see them play at Met Police. Rebel Kay
There were no spectators. All those who attended had a role to play in officiating, ferrying or in Alfie's case advising from the sidelines (helpful or otherwise)
