Today v Douvres

Can't get very excited about psf's; but seemed ok to me today-nothing spectacular-but overal fine-and although they may not seem it just yet-must not lose sight of fact it was an away fixture against a side two divisions above who had virtually the same side as last season.

that given-thought Dover did marginally shade it -and could have been 2 or 3 nil

For Margate-i thought Riviere was vritually faultless at right back (not sure we need another player for there on that performance.

For me-other best performances were Phipp (pleased to see him back to something like his potential after last seasons injuries ),wills and in second half-thought lewis Taylor was good.

Of slight concern there is that of the best players-all 3 were midfielders-and one midfielder playing at right back-yet we hardly created a single goalscoring opportunity !!

But again-we aren't preparing for the conference premier-we are preparing for the ryman so an ok work out imo

(meant to add that 'pace 'is a bit overated imo;but there again-Omari Patrick did demonstate some proper pace for a striker

Absolutely agree Michael about Riviere. He really stood out I thought. Was superb.

We looked comfortable all game really but and up until CK made a few substitutions neither team were really creating much and there was nothing to seperate the teams.

We passed the ball around well again (a few TOO many passes back to our keeper though I thought) and at times created some magical moves though only on the odd occasion.

There were also a lot of wayward passes too though and players not quite in sinc with each other quite yet but I would expect that to improve before the start of the season. It was the final third that I thought we were lacking in all game.

Stil,a good run out and those coming in did okay and got in some much needed matchtime and to lose might not be a bad thing. After the substitutions Dover picked it up a bit and shaded it.

Only slight negative-same old/same old-too many free kicks given away within 30 yards of goal-some maybe they needed too-but at least 50 per cent unecessary and put us under needless pressure
