Hereford United (A)

What I can't understand is why boycott the away games as this will only alienate other teams against them. Why not turn up to the away games in there colours but support the home team, it might show the owner what they're missing.

Agree ER.

It seems to them the best way to get rid of 'the cancer' in their club is to Boycott home and away games because to them Hereford United no longer exists under the current owners and they will accept nothing less than the current regime leaving the club before they attend another game.

Even if the owners pay all the money that's owed to their creditors, ex staff etc it will not be good enough.

It seems they were initially accepted by the Hereford supporters until they failed to pay the £300k Bond required for them to stay in the Conference and since then they've been vilified on their forum.

On the surface it does seem that Mr Agombar and Co. are a bunch of spivs with criminal records (allegedly :)) and not the sort of people that you would want to run your club.

A very interesting thread. Probably can't make it anyway so my decision is a moot point, however for their boycott to have any validity I'd expect them to go in force to every away game. 500 away fans and no home fans = boycott. 0 away fans and no home fans = no supporters (that's my opinion anyhow)

It seems most of their pre season friendlies have been cancelled, however the one they have managed to play the location of the match was changed at last minute due to safety concerns. So effectively played behind closed doors.

It seems that they have signed quite a few youngsters from abroad who are currently living in the ground?

Also seems that they are being offered full time contracts, and believe that Agombar is Herefords saviour.

Think I saw somewhere there was an important meeting about something affecting the club on the 28 July.

Will be interesting to see this all unfold and if the club are still around at the beginning of the season it will be interesting to see the response from the supporters. How many will turn up and also will there be any trouble.

But Ian, Hereford fans have asked away fans not to go. Did Watford fans ever? We are all sick of dodgy owners destroying football clubs but then just shrug our shoulders and continue to fund them. Personally i would love to watch Slough play at Hereford but we need to send messages out to football authorities like most Coventry City fans have by boycotting their 'home' games.

For me its a no brainer......we are Slough fans who want to watch our team

We will take say 75 there on a Tuesday night? they will feel the pinch from their own fans boycotting it and I dont think our 75 will mean that much to them.....however, to our lads who are out their playing, 75 voices willing them onto 3 points is massive

One of the best non-league grounds in the country that currently does not have a safety certificate. Or a groundsman, Or a team to play at the ground. Or supporters willing to support them. The match on 12 August, if it goes ahead, will be akin to the capital league match at W*king a few years back, minus the champagne for Dom.

Your right that our 75 will not make much difference to them, except for the fact that the corrupt owners will be £750 better off, assuming £10 admission.

Now that £750 pound would probably  pay for a coach to take the team to Truro so that they would arrive fresh and ready for the match.

Slough Town have huge extra costs this season with transport costs due to our long away trips.

Its a no brainer for me. I know that to support the team in person is fantastic but sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture, the team that Hereford will put out should be beaten easily by ours. (they only have two players so far contracted).

However a well rested team having travelled by coach to Truro should have a better chance of beating a proper team like Truro.

We need to look at the season as a whole , its vitally important to the club that we stay in the SLP and any chance to gain those points should be a priority.

Again its up to each of us to decide, im just pointing out how we can turn a negative situation for Hereford into a positive one for us whilst supporting our fellow fans at their club.

Donate your entrance money to STFC

I can see both sides of the argument and quite catch-22. My concern is where does our entry money end up? I think as Slough fans none of you will be wrong in what you all decide to do on this match. Supporting you team or upholding the integrity of non-league.

I personally probably be unable to attend but have been To Hereford in our Conference days, nice old league ground.

I will be going. I agree with the Hereford fans sentiment, but if you miss out going to this one

you will miss out on seeing Slough play in one of the best non-league grounds and

years later you will think: I wish I had gone.

Too right , the best non league playing surface for years was acknowledge as being Hillingdon Borough's ground in Falling Lane, now its a housing estate !

Warren - thought provoking as ever (even at 9 years old)

Just looked that the 3 "business models" this relates to and the cost of the season tickets:

FC United Manchester £100 plus whatever donation you can make

Hereford United £200 - that is if any are sold!

AFC Wombles starting at £260 plus a "donation" of £50 (total £310), up to £430 + £50 (£480) for the premium seats, or for those who can't sit with the common folk £750 + £50 (£800) in the Presidents box.

Which is the right model? and who are the happiest fans?

No, Watford fans never went as far as asking people to boycott although I made a personal decision to not go all the time certain people were in charge. That was my club however, my decision. I didn't insist others joined me.

As I said, there are many questionable owners in football and indeed questionable players who are the primary recipients of the money we spend. Yes, Hereford seem to be in a terrible position but where do we draw the line? Do we avoid watching certain teams because they are paying a convicted wife beater?

If 100% of Rebels agreed to boycott then I would miss it but that's as much about showing solidarity with my club and fans. As this thread shows however some people don't necessarily agree with asking away fans to miss watching their team, and i suspect not all Hereford fans will boycott their games either, so on that basis it will make relatively little difference if one extra person does or doesn't.
