Hereford United (A)

For those thinking about going to Hereford United next month, please consider the following (as mentioned by BFR in the Fixtures thread)...

Hereford were taken over in June by a consortium who have:-

- failed to pay creditors, players and staff for work carried out last season

- failed to prevent the club being expelled from the Conference

- alienated large sections of the fanbase

Long-time supporters of Hereford Utd have urged fellow fans to boycott games at Edgar Street, in protest at the actions of the consortium, and to a large extent have succeeded, with other clubs cancelling friendlies. The hope is that either the club can be bought by the Independent Supporters Trust or at the very least have its debts paid off.

A detailed summary can be found in the following link:-

Another source of information is:-

http://bullsnews.blogspot.co.uk/

Finally, @jensenbull on Twitter speaks eloquently about the plight of the club and indeed wrote the 200% article.

I would love to watch Slough Town play in a fantastic ground such as Edgar Street. However, I will not be going to Hereford unless the club either pay the former staff and take responsibility for what they have (i.e. the legacy of a good football club in its community) or hand it over to people that will.

Thanks for listening!

I agree totally with the reasons why the Hereford supporters are trying to get the present owners/flyboys out of their club by boycotting all home games until they have left their club.

What I do have a problem with is that the supporters on the Bulls forum are not only boycotting home games but away games as well.

The logic of this is that they will not go to watch a Hereford game, home or away, until the present regime have gone even if they do pay off creditors and former staff.

So whilst other clubs supporters maybe willing to sacrifice going to watch their club for the benefit of Hereford's cause, clubs are going to lose out financially when they don't turn up to the away game.

With respect to the supporters of Hereford who are trying to do the best thing for their club, I go to away games to support MY team. I admire their stance in boycotting games as that's the ultimate sanction they have that must have been difficult to do as supporters.

This season will be tough for us and our support of the lads will be vital. If there are Hereford supporters collecting outside the ground to aid their cause I'll gladly throw in a couple of quid but I'm not about to give up my right to follow my team.

Hereford away on a Tuesday night....awesome!

Not too sure what to think here, but what I do is think of some of the grounds we've been to in numbers since relegation in 2007 at step 4 on a cold, wet Tuesday night outnumbering the home support by two-to-one (if not more at times) and think if any sets of fans deserve to go to grounds like Hereford it's us!!

As it is relatively local ish to me, I fully intend to be there, BUT I fully endorse the sentiments behind their  fans stance.  I also happen to think that all this debate may be irrelevant anyway, as I can not see them starting the season!

I think they are due back in court in about a week or so's time where in theory they could be wound up.

Disrupting away games will not win them any friends, akin to saying do not come to our ground, but we will come to yours and cause chaos!

I agree with Ian on this one.  While what they are trying to do is certainly a worthy effort, if they are boycotting away games as well (and with their support it is to the detriment of the entire league financially), then I see no reason why we should not support our team at the time when they need us the most.  I'm looking forward to getting behind the team at a ground I haven't been to against a really big club.

Both sides of the discussion on here (go/dontgo) are very valid and I think it will come down to each persons feelings and actual ability to get to Hereford for 7.45pm on a Tuesday night.

By the way the return fixture is a Tuesday night game so I think this will be the overriding factor as to whether many fans from either club travel.

Personally I wont be going . I detest the kind of owners that are in charge of the club now and bearing in mind that when you pay your admission money then that money will go in their pocket and not be paid out in owed wages to staff and players from last season.

The groundsman alone is £20k out of pocket.

You have to ask yourself do you want your money going to a corrupt owner? I would rather not go and donate my entrance money to Slough.

You can support our club in many ways and this will be my way.

Personally I would love to go and my first thought is to support the team, but can understand the wishes of the Hereford United fans.

I think Glover has come up with a good suggestion for those that don't want to go and that could be in the form of a donation of entrance fees to Slough so at least in that respect the club are benefiting from the support of those who have chosen not to go.

If I took the moral high ground over dodgy football club owners I'd have boycotted dozens of games over the years, not least of all watching my own team, Watford. I'll quite happily boycott buying a program, drink, burger etc. but i'm not boycotting supporting the Rebels.

Will the entrance money go in the owners pocket after paying players wages, lighting etc?

With the boycott and the game being on a Tuesday I would guess that the owners will be out of pocket.
