Website too slow

BJR,everytime I go on your link to the Dorking Advertiser,it freezes,or IE cannot show it.

 

 

I have to admit Peter, the Dorking Ad site can be very 'clunky' and slow, but this has only happened since they massively increased the amount of web page advertising, mostly videos.

 

This seems to be par for the course for most local paper web-sites.  I appreciate they have to sell advertising space to make it pay, BUT.......

Just tried chrome which was a bit faster but then started getting popups of nude females so went back to explorer.

I have priced up a new server and will more than likely be going with it. It will cost around 300 a month.

 

Hopefully it will improve things, however the biggest improvement is likely to come later in the year when we will upgrade to the latest version of the software. I estimate that it is at least 6 months away from being ready for me to upgrade here.

 

Next week is probably the earliest time that I can change servers for this site. I am this week having to move a container load of items from Kent to Lancashire!!

Sorry no I was not joking it's probably because it had the default settings not blocking anything maybe that's why explorer is a bit slower as its doing its work blocking stuff out.

We do not have such images!

 

If you are seeing this as a pop-up, then it sounds like your computer might have some malware or virus running.

If so, it might be worth your while downloading SUPERAntispyware.  It's free and I find it useful.

Have you not thought the virus might actually be on your server, I have no problem with any other sites apart from yours and my computer is swept for viruses and bugs daily.

I have just ordered a new server.

 

Just don't tell the wife on the expense!

 

It will take around a week to get things ready for a transfer of the site.

I have now moved the site onto a new server.

 

I am hoping things are a bit faster for you all.

 

However would welcome feedback.

 

I need to do a bit of tweaking of settings, but will do this once the server has bedded in to ensure I do not create extra issues.
