Windsor v Slough

Recommended Posts

I think a lot of Slough's players lack match fitness. Compared to this time last season at Sandhurst, opposition aside, a lot of them looked sluggish and off the pace.

This is what preseason is for though to get everyone up to speed.

Early days yet but though Knight looked sharp and the left winger in the second half had something about him.

Would be hoping to see improvement Tuesday.

Just as long as everyone had a good time.  That's what counts with friendlies.

Can anybody behind the goal say why Dennison was sent off? Looked like a bit of 50/50 for me but a red card in a friendly suggests it was more serious than that.

Generally I thought the officials were pretty poor. In the 1st half our No 11 was about 5 yards offside and he didn't flag. I run the line for my son's U16s team and you have to be asleep to miss something like that.

Your left back didn't like him at all, and in fact called him a f***ing prick when he didn't stop the ball when it went near him for a Slough throw on 2 occasions. Seemed a bit harsh!

He does have a rather hot head. Super keeper for our level though.

Only saw the last few minutes of the U10s game. Anyone know the final score of that one?

The u10s finished 7-0 to Windsor.

Lots of new players in the 2nd half for Windsor as well.

I don't think any of the subs had played for us before (excl Tuesdays friendly)

There were only 4 new players in the second half and the other was Owen Richardson who was here all last season.

Not concerned with the result one bit.

We did look very rusty and off the pace which I think was to be expected and we will get better as the friendlies progress.

First half I thought Dobbo did OK and for his first game I thought Tom Moran did well.

Second half the player that impressed me most was Luke Knight, not only showed a bit of class but also the grit and determination that we are going to need this season, I think he's going to be a big player for us.

Obviously a bit of time wasting

Ah yes, forgot about Richardson.

Still, 4 new faces in one half deserves more than "only".

How many newbies did Slough have?

Yes, friendly results don't mean a lot but Slough were really poor.

I expected Windsor to look very rusty and off the pace as well but we didn't.

I guess our pre-season programme is well ahead of yours. Or something.

Good luck for what lies ahead.

I think you might need it.

Well not a good day for us, however am not going to get too upset about it, there was not a great tempo to the game, and the only tempo after the first 5/10 mins came from Windsor (first half.)

Second half was a bit of a non event.

In terms of their keeper, by all accounts he threw a punch, I did ask the ref after not to put it in, and would he not have been better to substitute the keeper, as hate to see players sent off pre season, however by all accounts 5 mins earlier one of their players had taken a kick at one of ours, and he felt he needed to take appropriate action on this particular incident.

Obviously disappointed in the goals conceded, as felt we should have dealt with them much better (though an excellent cross and header for the 2nd, and good free kick for the 4th), however I think that is also a little bit of players getting used to each other in key positions, so not going to go overboard, if we are still giving goals like that on 2nd August there might be an issue.

On the plus side I think a few of you are right Knighty did well for his 45, and I thought Tom was pretty steady.

I am sure we will play a lot better in the upcoming games... will put it behind us, and start to concentrate on the next week.

Yep, perspective is needed a little. No Smith, Hatchett, Wooz and Foulser.

Went into the game with two new centre-back's that had never played together and also lost two players injured early in Warren Harris & Adam Cornell which left us with Seb breaking from midfield & playing off a lone striker in JD second-half.

That added to the fact they had a player who was quite fast pulling onto Ben Edwards position first-half and Ben's really a central midfielder and that player caused Ben a lot of problems.

That said, we still should have done better but nothing major to worry about if you consider it's our first game and the above. Fair play to Windsor though did well and should do well in their league.

What a pathetic excuse from the ref. He didn't take action for a kick out (did anybody see it?) so makes up for it by sending off a player for a bit of handbags a few minutes later.

Nobody I've spoken to saw a punch thrown, just a hefty shove. Daft to do it in any game but a red card in a friendly when no damage done? Poor. Really poor.

I don't know the rules re friendlies but am told that means he will miss the start of the season.

When I've seen a bit of unnecessaries in friendlies before a sensible ref has had a word with the manager and "suggested" he substitute a player....

Thanks for trying to get the ref not to submit it - that is appreciated.

I was standing on the side and it was a definite punch.

I count we had 4 new players an Ben Edwards playing out of position up against a very quick player against Edwards who is definitely not the quickest player in the squad.

Considering 3 of the back 4 were new/out of position it was more than likely Windsor would get some chances.

move on now and the players will be better now they have played with each other.

he will definitely be suspended for the next friendly under the current FA guidance but any further punishment would be determined if the referee reports it

Terence your comment doesn't make sense. How can he be definitely suspended if the ref doesn't report it?

Totally agree.

Very poor from the Ref. In a friendly most Ref's use common sense and have the said player taken off before he's sent off.

Never saw the kick-out and neither did anyone near me, so a mystery.
