Basildon Untied 1 Enfield Town 3

Recommended Posts

Town many have played a new formation but it was still good enough to beat a lack lustre Basildon. Lee Smith got the first and I think Ian Cooper got the second. What matters is the defence was well beaten and the keeper had no chance. 0 - 2 at half-time and we could not believe how easy the first half had been.

Second half Basildon charged at the town and Billy looked to have blocked it but alas 2 - 1. Back on the fingernails boys could they pull their way back in NOOP! Smithy and Cooper were on the charge again and relatively quickly restored the 2 goal cushion with a another nailed by Lee Smith. We were all over them and were starting to look like we were going to get a cricket score. But alas the dirty stuff came in and the 3 and 5 for Basildon should have walked but for some weak refereeing!

Still 3 - 1 with no keeper and Billy Cove between the posts is a great result. Good team spirit and play!

Well done lads

Well it certainly made my day to witness a defence looking after its stand in keeper and then supplying the attack with goal scoring opportunities at will. I won £15.00 last night at the quiz night, the 'boys done good' today and surely I am on to a winner with the lottery this evening!

However, one lottery I witnessed today was the one put on display by the referee. How can a man with the authority to manage 22 men on a pitch do nothing when he is verbally abused and had hands put on him? What was he there for if it wan't to enforce the laws of the game? They haven't changed since the last time I looked so why didn't he use them? How could he possibly caution Billy Cove for time wasting when two balls were on the pitch? How petty!

What was even more interesting was his reaction to our lads getting excited in the changing room after the game. Teams who come to Brimmo make one hell of a noise when they manage to beat us or, in some instances, get a point and good luck to them. We do not complain, but when we do it people take exception? Seems to be an inequality somewhere along the lines.

We had a game plan today and it worked. Well done to all!

MIM, I think staying on the forum is a safe option:

Post-mortem examinations were being carried out on Monday on two teenage girls who plunged to their deaths from the 11th floor of a block of flats in Essex.

The girls, aged 16 and 18, were found on a concrete area near Cecil Court in Jones Close, Southend, on Sunday at 0320 GMT.

It is thought they fell 120 feet from a window in the stairwell of the flats.

Essex Police say they are not treating the incident as suspicious and are trying to establish the cause of the tragedy.

It is thought they had been drinking.

Young vandals are believed to be behind a smashing spree on a train in Southend which caused thousands of pounds of damage.

British Transport Police said the vandals had taken an axe to the train which had been in sidings between Victoria Station and Prittlewell Station over the weekend.

The First Great Eastern Train had its windows smashed and its doors splintered during the attack.

WELL DONE TO ENFIELD HAVE TO ADMIT NO WAY BASILDON ARE PLAYING WELL ENOUGH TO WIN ANYTHING LET ALONE THE LEAGUE AT PRESENT, HOWEVER I DO NOT FEEL YOU ARE AS STRONG IN DEPTH AS ILFORD OR CONCORD AND I PERSONALLY WOULD LIKE TO SEE EITHER OF THESE WIN THE LEAGUE, YOU DO HOWEVER HAVE A LOT IN COMMON WITH ROMFORD THERE FANS SOUNDED LIKE A LOAD OF IDIOTS FROM A FUNNY FARM JUST LIKE YOUR LOT THAT STAND BEHIND THE GOALS. ALL CREDIT TO THEM I DO THINK THEY WIN YOU GAMES WITH THEIR INTIMIDATION OF OTHER TEAMS NOT SO MUCH YOUR ABILITY ON THE FIELD!
