STFC Promotion morning

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I've spoken to Steve Easterbrook about the idea of doing a promotion morning for the club and he approves the idea of leaflets etc, so I thought I'd start a separate topic to get ideas going. I'm going to post on the MyFC forum to get their input too.

We obviously need a group of people willing to help out for the morning, so anyone willing to help please post on here.

Other ideas we could have:

- A leaflet containing the club fixtures, advertisement of season ticket/matchday prices, and the fact that we have been promoted.

- Club shop merchandise to sell (Sue?)

- Competitions of some kind were mentioned

- If Curtis can organise his petition by then, we can have it there for the public to sign.

So does anyone know a printing company that could help us out with the leaflets? Or a company that could make us a promotion banner?

Any other ideas welcome. I'm currently seeing if we would need to do anything with the council regarding using the high street for something like this.

(Original post edited now we can't do the 2nd August)

I'd go for a double sided DL Flyer with the fixtures on one side, match prices and a map on the other side. Usual stuff like web address, social links included too etc.

If the morning is going to take place on the day of the first fixture most won't be interested in a season ticket especially at the price if you've no affiliation to the club so attempting to attract the floating attendee is probably the best way to go.

What about doing a special priced "ticket" that covers the first four home games for those that are interested.

We would have more chance of having returnees if they've been to 4 games than just turning up for one at a discounted price.

We could advertising it with our new slogan, something like this

Come join the Rebelution

Did you know that you had a premier team minutes from your house

Did you know that you can stand anywhere, instead of being told where to sit

Did you know that your whole family can go and watch for the same price as going to the cinema, a fraction of going to Chelsea or Arsenal.

No, then that team is Slough Town

Come and support your OWN town, come and support Slough Town

Oh, by the way, I couldn't see any prices on the website, that might put people off if they can't see how much it will cost

I know, that's why I said 4 games. They could be priced at the same as a season ticket would be if you extrapolate to 4 games.

We were asked to come up with ideas, which is what I am doing,

If you question most of the ideas coming forward, then they will stop coming

I think you've got to make it kids free whatever as we need to 'replenish' the older fans (no offence intended!). So kids free with a paying adult with a second match at half price adult ticket? Could we arrange a deal where you could offer a family ticket for £15 which includes upto 3 kids, 1 adult, free programme x 1, free chips and a soft drink x 3? Obviously would need to strike a deal with SYCOB or whoever runs the burger can but that might be enticing?

Not having a go at the idea's more the merrier just pointing out the (mybe) down falls.

Like say Gary's idea 200 of our regular supporters say they are coming in on the promotion deal. The club is down nearly £500.

Or Say your in line and the person in front is paying the promotion price and your paying £10.

Glenstfc The burger bar is a business they're there to make money to pay there wages ect. As 3spirit has already pointed out in another thread that's there job so they're there to make money not to support us.

RebelDelaney good idea I think Alan will be getting some posters made up once the fixtures come out can you ask if you could put one up for us?

Or anyone else know of somewhere they could be put?

Can anyone come up with any idea's that doesn't involve the gate money?

Like Glenstfc's  'support your town day' with a series of promotions, competitions, giveaways, half time entertainment etc...

This is not a go at anyone just an observation and what someone might think.

All the ideas we are coming up with a for people on top of the regulars and the money they bring to the club.

We are not trying to lower the money coming in, but to get more in.

These ideas are run perfectly well at other clubs and have brought them success in gaining extra footfall and therefore more cash

" people on top of the regulars"  As I said what if all the regulars turn up and say they are coming in on the promotion ( not saying they will but could) the money the club would loose is massive.

The problem is the club may have to take a short term hit in order for long term gain.

A way around this would be to analyse risk associated with the promotion.......

For example, we get 300 in the gate, lets say 100 of these would use the promotional offer of say half price entry, then we need at least 100 more on top to get us back to our normal revenue. We then have 100 more people in the ground and the same revenue. Of these 100 people, if even 10 come back we gain £100 each matchday thereafter.

The people in charge are a clever bunch and i have no doubt that they will analyse the risks behind any promotional activity the club has.......

Therefore, I feel we can have suggestions that may benefit some of our regulars as all needs to be considered.

All Sainsbury stores are more than happy to allow free advertising like this.

Just ask the store duty manager.

Sound like I'm knocking everything but honestly I'm not.

"I feel we can have suggestions that may benefit some of our regulars as all needs to be considered".

We do a season ticket a saving of £70, also being the cheapest in the league.

Some thoughts the Board has had,.,.,.,., Picnic before the game. Ladies day, and as Kay said  "a promo type game".

All would get extra at the gate without to much cost to the gate.
