FA Cup/Trophy draw

Recommended Posts

Slough will play at home to any of Ardley Utd/Ash United/Hartley Whitney/Frimley Green in the FA Cup first qualifying round.

We'll also will travel to Margate in the FA trophy first qualifying round.

Well I don't think we could have picked a harder game in the Trophy, with Terry Brown and Stuart Cash now at the helm, and with the players they have been bringing in they will be some side this year, however great game for us, and one we will relish.

Any home draw in the FA Cup is good, and we will wait to see who we will end up playing....

Looking forward to the game against Margate in the Trophy.

Terry Brown and Stuart Cash, both ex-Slough players and Terry Brown reported to have applied for the Managers position when Steve Bateman left.

Should be an interesting game against big spending Margate.

Sadly my monies on Terry Brown. Who said he applied for the Slough job ?

One of Hotspur's picks for the Slough job. In other news, he predicted Messi to join Doncaster Rovers.

Not only Hotspur, I would imaging all knowledgeable Slough fans would have liked Brown as a manager.Truth be known he never applied or we could not afford him.

I would imagine Doncaster too good for Messi , maybe Windsor .

Ha ha cheers Chris, however as soon as we drew Margate and the subject of Terry Brown, I knew Lino would pop up, as lets be honest he also has another name, something like Tottenham!!!

Wrong yet again Neil, but as you know can't tell some people.

Also the thread was mainly aimed at Mr Browns possibility of becoming manager even well before you were thought of.

Lets hope we do beat them !

It seems Terry Brown has been given a big budget to get Margate promoted.

Didn't work last season and no guarantee to work this season.

Pretty certain Margate have had financial difficulties in the not so distant past.

Just hope for the supporters sake's they are not going for broke just to get promoted and pay the ultimate price if they don't.

Terry Brown would have been entirely the wrong choice for our club. It's not just about success, albeit Jon and Neil have delivered that, it's also about having the right people. Jon and Neil are absolutely the right people.

Plus anyone who chooses to go anywhere near Margate needs their sanity questioned. It's an absolute pit!

Terry Brown would have been a great appointment for Slough but certainly not a cheap option.

He may have been too big an appointment for the level we were playing at,given his superior knowledge of the higher echelons of non-league.

I'm glad we never got him now, though,as Bakes and Unders have done a terrific job so far and are the right fit for our club.

They have won over most of us fans with their knowledge, enthusiasm, dedication to the job and their shrewdness in the way they manage and the unique comraderie they have created with the squad and their worthy efforts to interact with the supporters.Regardless of whether they finish high or low this season.

They won't get everything right but nor would Terry Brown. I for one,am more than happy with the managers we have and hopefully they will guide our club upwards and be with us for a good few seasons to come.

IMO Terry Brown would have been a great appointment for Slough in name only.

Yes, he has a great CV but the price we would have had to pay for that could have ultimately cost the club had we not achieved promotion.

I might be wrong and perhaps we'll never know but I think he did apply for the job and priced himself out of it.

His loss has been our gain as IMO we have the best managers at Slough since the day's of Brian McDermott.

What makes you say Mr. Brown would have been entirely the wrong choice for Slough, do you know him as a person then ? Post Bateman and pre our present managers, I would suggest that no one has a more excellent Non League record than Mr. Brown.Still it never happened and those in charge now are doing a good job , I just wish people on here would stop making outrageous statements without the knowledge and facts to go with it.
