A new ground - mobilising and organising ourselves

The keepy uppy is a good idea the kids do it then, we'll need an adults e-mail address to notify the winner and for our records. This'll also be to notify them of other things Slough Town FC.

If I can find a WHITE  marker pen (not paint pen) I have an away shirt that could be signed as the prize.

You could use a silver pen

I know a person who runs a bouncy castle company. Maybe they'd have a penalty shoot out one we could borrow.

I'm happy to coordinate with anyone who wants to get this going (Club and/or Trust?)

The morning of the Leatherhead friendly seems the most logical day to do it.

So questions that need working out for an STFC morning in the town square:

- when do the fixtures come out? Can we get a company to produce pocket sized fixture lists to hand out?

- do we have to apply to the council or anyone else to have a stand etc in the high street?

- how many people would be willing to come down and help?

Please also take in to consideration that we do have the option of submitting either a 'paper petition' or an 'epetition' (a link to which you could e-mail to friends and family). The same rules would apply though, petition signers would have to be Slough Borough residents or be working or studying in the Slough Borough.

I think I could get a lot more signatures if it was on paper. In fact, I would be up for going around some local pubs getting it signed.

It's a dirty job but someone's gotta do it.

Why have the three guys who are both councillors and fans not come on here to say something that may give guidance as to potential ways to progress this ?

Must be against the law or something, otherwise I'm sure they would be more than willing to help the club they are reported to support.

Surely we can get the Herschel Arms to put a petition up and get all their regulars etc to sign one?

I'm sure a lot of the pubs in town would. With Arbour Vale 5 minutes away it could bring in more punters on matchday.

I think what we require is 30 dedicated people who will commit to getting 50 signatures each.

I'm willing to put myself down for that:-

1. Mark Curtis

2. Stuntman Mark

3. Martin and his Dad

4. Reading Rebel

5. Sue and Aidan

6. 3spirit

7.

8.

9.

10.

Add yourself to the list if you are willing to do the same.

Please note :-

There are three levels of petition that require different levels of response from the Council:-

1. More than 10 signatures - the Council have to only acknowledge and respond to the petition

2. More than 750 signatures - a Senior Council Officer has to attend an Overview and Scrutiny Committee meeting to give evidence

3. More than 1,500 signatures - the petition has to be debated at a Council Meeting (where the Petition Organiser has 5 minutes to put their case and the Councillors 15 minutes to discuss)

The number of people that add themselves to the above list (and we currently have six) by the end of this week should determine the level we go for..... less than 15 people on the list and we may as well settle for level 1, put eleven signatures on a petition and submit it (but don't expect a detailed response from the Council).

More than 15 people on the above list by the end of this week, and it is worthwhile attempting to achieve the level 2 or 3 thresholds of 750 or 1,500 signatories (which will have to be handled in much more serious manner by the Council and receive a much more detailed response).

You've forgotton ARAAS   :)

Can.t we get one of the big sports shops on board with the petitions.

The online e petition closed with over 1500 signitures.

The protest outside slough council offices a few years back got alot of publicty and feedback from the council is it time to get the drums out again we were lucky as it was a sunny hot day

We also have to remember that this is not just to do with the council but also the DfE too. Not sure what we can do to put some pressure on them.

I spoke to my contact at the bouncy castle place and they do a penalty shoot out thing but unfortunately it has to be placed on grass due to health and safety reasons. So that option is out it seems because of wanting to do it on the High Street. Other football related competitions could be good though.

I'm staying with my family in Surbiton over the summer and my uncle works for Kingston council.  He has been involved with Kingstonian FC and issues to do with their ground Kingsmeadow in the past.  I'll ask him for some advice.  No idea what he could do but I'm sure he'll at least offer some thoughts on the way forward.

Some great stuff on here. I think the stall should also be handing out fixture lists and promoting the fact that we've been promoted. Borrow Phil the Flags banner and print out the Slough Observer front page asking when we were going to get a new ground. Create a buzz that the club are finally on the up but that we need people to sign the petition and ask councillors why we are still homeless. Really impressed with Stuntman Marks offer of a petiton pub crawl. Im sure Kieran and Nigel will help with that.

Not sure it is to do with the DofE anymore.

The compromise for SBC giving in to the DofE is the spare bit of land for the Community Sports Facilities which I would assume is down to SBC what they put in there.

They are still waiting for the DfE to clear the application for SBC to take that piece of land back from the control of the DfE. So until that happens, it is still to do with the DfE.

Yes, but I can see no reason why the DofE would not 'clear the application' from SBC as it was part of the compromise.
