A new ground - mobilising and organising ourselves

Yes HT, I remember us taking the club shop into the observatory just after Steve Easterbrook took over and then a few years later doing that stand in the town square.

If we were going to do something like that it might require some initial outlay costs. Perhaps we could give out pocket sized fixture lists and have a few club shop items for sale. Would also be good to have some kind of banner to advertise our exile and/or our promotion winning season.

It would also be a good way to collect signatures for any petition.

If I remember right we did it on the last weekend of pre season in the past.

I like the idea of a kids petition.

This could actually be seperate from the main one, as I too am not sure of whether it would have any validity, but would certainly be a press gimmick.

We could get a small child to write it and then have the kids from the Youth teams, ACademy and any schools friends etc to sign it.

I will take a lead on this, but if all Rebels fans with children can help to get signatures it would be great.

If we can get the schools around that are to sign, and the one planned to go in there, that will hopefully be a big help to us, as it will show that they want us in there

Only appropriate if the piece of land reserved for 'Community Sports Facilities' at Arbour Vale is big enough for what we need, otherwise no point.

I think what we require is 30 dedicated people who will commit to getting 50 signatures each.

I'm willing to put myself down for that:-

1. Mark Curtis

2. Stuntman Mark

3. Martin and his Dad

4. Reading Rebel

5.

6.

7.

8.

9.

10.

Add yourself to the list if you are willing to do the same.

Some great ideas/suggestions from 3spirit, HeavyTrucker, HorshamRebel, Rebel Kay, A Rebel and A Saint, and Rebel Sue..... I'm not sure whether you are saying you are in or not though?

I'm in,Curtis, happy to try and get 50 signatures.

Obviously we need official forms for them to sign.Perhaps it would be good for the petition form to contain a small paragraph of our history at the top of the page and of course, the Slough badge So that those not so familiar with our club can see what we are about.  .

I too have moved out of Slough and dont get to many games any more however just thinking outside the box slightly, does Slough still not have the largest trading estate in Europe? Segro are forever knocking down old buildings and replacing them with derelict new ones due to some government tax scheme which means they get more money for a new building sitting empty than an old one I believe.  Anyway would it be worth contacting Segro to see if we can have a site on their estate as there are some, i.e opposite the banks near Liverpool Road that are huge?

That is an interesting idea but I would imagine their land is quite expensive. We'd also need to know the dimensions of the complete stadium plan to pass onto them.

I'm more than willing to help Curtis but I'm not sure I can get 50 signatures, and not many from the Slough area.

I was saying we need to take this to the public in Slough town centre on a Saturday morning before or around the start of the season. It's been a while since we did a promotion in Slough so we could use it to promote the club, it's exile and the promotion of the club back to step 3. Handing out leaflets and fixture lists, having the petition for people to sign and advertising the club can only be a good thing.

ARAAS,

A good idea and a good way of getting lots of signatures. I'm sure it will be on the agenda.

Agree a great idea......In the past we have had a small table outside the cinema......This was great and generally the people who were interested were ones that have watched the club before (back in the conference for the most part)

Would there be any benefit for having a competition also running to entice kids, something like a pen shootout or a keepy uppy competition......if kids can do it then they win a small STFC prize........

Of course this would mean a small outlay but could be stfc stick of rock or a small pen or something.......may get more interest from the younger generation

We could also give away free tickets to a game

ABove post is worded terribly as im thinking and writing, apologies

Add yourself to the list if you are willing to do the same.

Please note :-

There are three levels of petition that require different levels of response from the Council:-

1. More than 10 signatures - the Council have to only acknowledge and respond to the petition

2. More than 750 signatures - a Senior Council Officer has to attend an Overview and Scrutiny Committee meeting to give evidence

3. More than 1,500 signatures - the petition has to be debated at a Council Meeting (where the Petition Organiser has 5 minutes to put their case and the Councillors 15 minutes to discuss)

The number of people that add themselves to the above list (and we currently have six) by the end of this week should determine the level we go for..... less than 15 people on the list and we may as well settle for level 1, put eleven signatures on a petition and submit it (but don't expect a detailed response from the Council).

More than 15 people on the above list by the end of this week, and it is worthwhile attempting to achieve the level 2 or 3 thresholds of 750 or 1,500 signatories (which will have to be handled in much more serious manner by the Council and receive a much more detailed response).

The keepy uppy is a good idea the kids do it then, we'll need an adults e-mail address to notify the winner and for our records. This'll also be to notify them of other things Slough Town FC.

If I can find a WHITE  marker pen (not paint pen) I have an away shirt that could be signed as the prize.

Please also take in to consideration that we do have the option of submitting either a 'paper petition' or an 'epetition' (a link to which you could e-mail to friends and family). The same rules would apply though, petition signers would have to be Slough Borough residents or be working or studying in the Slough Borough.
