New Ground Gone In Favour Of New School?

According to the Observer, the Arbor Vale site is to be used for another school (Lynch Hill Academy), subject to planning permission.

Is this the end for our return home at that site? Back to square one?

"The Observer can reveal Lynch Hill Enterprise Academy will be based at the old Arbour Vale School site, in Stoke Road"

Apparently the council and DfE have agreed to it.

I know this may only be press speculation, but we appear to be in trouble, and if true, we're stuck and have been betrayed by our own council.

Cue a statement from the Council saying they are still committed to the football club and this was a decision taken out of their hands. In reality they have pussy footed around for years and nothing will have pleased them more than having this taken out of their hands.

They have played the political game at our expense. The one positive out of this is what you cannot deal with is uncertainty. In terms of Arbour Park, we now have closure and can move on to other possibilities.

According to Slough council on Twitter, they seem to be in discussions to now have a site which combines the school and the community sports facilities. They are blaming 'complicated legal issues on land use' on why it's taking so long to agree on the use of some of the land for a stadium etc.

Interesting if true, but surely this would put the whole process back a few steps.

If Stoke Poges can kit it out because of traffic why cant we that'll make about 10 schools in about 1 mile square,

Also what was the council saying we'll that them to court if we have to.

There's 3 so called supporters that need to say clear of me!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you read the article in the Observer, P6, second column, it says " We are still in discussions about how the remaining third part can be developed for community sports facilities."

I think this points you in the correct direction.

Right ted first it was housing, facilities and stfc,   Now it's looking like your going to bottle on your promise and end up with school, housing and facilities with NO stfc.

I live by and the traffic is metal at 3 so putting another school there the council are crazy.

Troubls is Ted, sometimes a Council statement like that often means general sports facilities with football not taking a major part.

We are fortunate in Dorking in so far as the new Dorking football club consortium has come to an agreement with our local council and thereby obtained a new 50 year lease on the Meadowbank ground with money to refurbish and develop over the next twelve months.

The only other Council development locally that I can think of that has not dimished the football status of a club is at The New Defence ground of Horley F.C.

Always look to 'read between the lines'  closely when studying Council statements.

The council now claims (after a question from the club Twitter) that the sports facilities can be paid for by the council now that the housing is gone.

Something just doesn't seem right about all this.

Yes Dan the facilities are without stfc.

and the third bit is about as big as the car park at W/P

Seems that a year so the land was nearly 'taken away' from the council. So over the years with the exhibitions, consultations etc it was apparently going to be that easy for the Department for Education to just take the land out of council control.

I'll be interested to hear what the club have to say but it sounds like it's once again in 'discussions' over new plans. There's not even a design in place for any potential stadium anymore apparently. Who knows how much further this could put things back.
