Beaconsfield pitch 15/6/14

I think a lot of us regular helpers felt that apart from the lovely Paul Hughes it was all a bit one sided getting the ground ready for the start of the season.

Its not like me at all but I am not helping except to tidy my shop which Beaconsfield use as a dumping ground during the break !

I am sure older ram will help but don't hold your breath !

I'm glad not all Slough Supporters think like you, otherwise there'd be no football for you to watch.

Painting railings for me is like a busman's holiday,Epic Rebel. No fun at all.

I contribute to Slough Town FC with my programme advert and sponsorship of players and am now doing a little bit for features for the programme this season.

Not all of us can be Superhero's like you ! However,I do appreciate all those people that contribute in various ways they can,for the love and the good of the club and that includes yourself.Even though you're obviously not a fan of me !

The point I was making was we need to use people what they're good at, in your case painting.

ie the Polish club was given £500 to do OUR changing rooms and Super Kev's room ect, If you had put yourself forward it could of saved the club the labour costs.

And NO i've got nothering against you or and Slough support that does stuff for the club, It was the way you said it.

What is the arrangement with the Polish Club? do we get to use their facilities for free?

Surely Landlords are obliged to keep their property up to a good standard?

Agreed on that.... If slough is going to be doing it I agree with mark I'll bring the amber and blue paint..... Pretty sure sycob would paint them red quick enough then!

Just thought I would clarify.....

As a club we have always sought to help Beaconsfield as much as we can pre season and indeed during the season; and the rent we pay actually reflects this. Therefore the more we can help out not only ultimately benefits the club financially but also means that we have a 'smarter ground' to play at.

I fully understand that some people may not be in a position to help but I would like to thank all those people who have helped in the past and also those who I hope will be part of this years working party.

1) If you lot think I'm going to paint railings in my spare time, you're sadly mistaken !

2) Having to endure it as a living is bad enough, but least I get paid for doing that !

3) Surely that's down to SYCOB not Slough, anyway.

4) PS Sue,have you heard of primer! lol!

I'll try to explain the way I read you.

1) sorry your majesty.

2) wanting to be paid

3) see Steve's and my quote ( the 1 just before Steve's)

4) having a dig at someone who don't paint as a living and in her spare time (even with the lol)

Mybe if a painter had done it in the first place it wouldn't be flaking now.

As I said it's not a dig at you just the way I read it.

Personally, I didn't read it as a dig and the lol, as far as I'm aware, is supposed to be telling the person that it's not?

Maybe a warped   ;)  sense of humour, but not a dig.

Epic Rebel, you have me wrong,I'm afraid.

You posted the photo's on here about the Beaconsfield pitch.I mentioned about the red railings because it was in one of the photo's and as I happen to stand along the side of one of the red railings at games,I and many others have noticed that the red paint is flaking and getting on people's hands and coats. It's been like it for sometime.

I could have mentioned it ages ago on here but knew it was not my concern.

As your photo highlighted it,somewhat, that made me comment on it.

You are right, if I do any painting for anyone,I want paying for it,as it is my living !

Volunteering for physical jobs around the ground holds no appeal to me whatsoever.Though, it is wrong to assume that I wouldn't offer support in other ways.

Outside of football and work [painting],I have been a volunteer befriender for Age Concern and volunteer mediator in neighbourhood disputes, among others voluntary efforts,so I don't need a lecture on volunteering.

I am NOT seeking painting jobs at the club.

As for the quip about the primer to Sue,that was just a leg pull, hence the lol after the comment.

I mean't no malice, or was I sending her up about her worthy efforts in painting the railing in the first place.

I would like to think that Sue has realised by now, that I am not a miscreant, and knows when I'm joking and having some banter,as most fans on here now do.

I can appreciate your point about using people's know-how but strongly disagree with your point about me working for nothing on the changing room project.

Do you really think after 30 odd years of painting and decorating, I would want to give up my spare time doing more painting ? ! You've got to be nuts! It's hard enough just doing any decorating in my home ! Let alone doing it for a favour. ha ha!

People volunteer to help because they want to.

Some do it with a generous open heart, some do it for the accolades/pats on the back and I expect some get coerced/arm twisted and find it hard to get of,because people like you make them feel guilty.

Your changing room/railing notion,Epic Rebel,is like me coming to a Slough home match and asking to come in for nothing because I haven't any money to pay.

What would Slough Town FC think of that idea, being that the club is a business? They would soon go bust,if no one paid the entrance fee.

It is the same principle, as my point.

Getting a job done properly, costs. You can tart anything up but of course,if you only skimp on it.It will not last.

Hence why one coat of red paint on a railing outside, which hasn't been prepared properly,is going to flake !

No 3spirit it's you that's got the wrong end of the stick here.

Clubs rely on volunteers to do jobs, especially if some of those volunteers have skills that others do not have, say when it comes to ground maintenance, marketing experience or even someone who is willing to does bit of printing.

No one really likes painting railings but if it can be done properly then it will last longer. Someone with experience could probably do it quicker and better as well.

Don't moan about the paint flaking off and the apparent sub par job of someone like Sue who gave up bet free time to do it if you're not willing to use your own skills to do it instead.

I agree with epicrebel, the tone of your posts always seems to come across as critical even when you're apparently joking about.

Before you start moaning at me, I've been involved with a scout group and rugby club for years who use people's trades to good effect to save money and get jobs done effectively.

ARAAS, I wasn't moaning about Sue's skills as a painter.Where do I say that? Yes I joked with her but mean't no harm by it.

In fact,I wasn't moaning about anything. It was an observation, from the photo Epic Rebel put up and what my eyes see when at games,of the said railing.

As I said in a previous post,if it really bothered me,I would have reported it at the start of last season !

I couldn't care less who paints the entire stadium ! It won't be me but good luck to anyone who wants to.

I go to watch football to get a release away from painting. I also watch a rugby team on occasion and could easily be roped in to helping them with painting jobs but choose not to get involved with this there, either.

As for being seen as critical, I really don't mean my posts to be so but I suppose I may come across as opinionated and no shrinking violet.

I can only apologise to you and Epic Rebel if you think I've said anything out of order.

I'm not on here to cause offence, or to criticise those worthy individuals that wish to give their time to the club.
