Option two for reserve league looks good to me. Although I'm guessing a regional affair means no promotion/relegation

reserve team mangers aren't normally in post to long or they move up to the first team or if they have a decent side they move on to another club , so one year you've got a good reserve side the next season if a manager moves on you may struggle , regionalising leagues will help clubs to attract younger local players , if players haven't got to travel more than 30 mins you'll get more commitment which will stop players drifting into local county league football. More importantly save clubs money , Look how many reserve team fixtures where left unplayed or teams that couldn't raise a team , if it doesn't work vote for a change the season after but at least give it a chance !!!

Already been down the regional line which end in 2008-09.

What was the reason to go back to 2 tiers after 2008/9?

The travelling distance was always the reason Hertford Town did not have a team in SSML reserve league. We are keen for it to be regionalised.......but would be good to understand the down sides better.

Got to be regionalised, many Reserves side will be young lads coming out of youth Football, and a good way to killing them off would be to ask them to travel miles upon miles for sometimes meaningless games especially towards the end of the season or mid-week games, while some are unable to drive or holding down Sat morning jobs and still in education the regionalised format will keep them interested and still in the game. While youth football is thriving, senior men’s 11 aside football is dying so we need to encourage youth players into men’s football not discourage them. I could also see teams if the status quo is kept of removing their Reserves sides just like last season when WGC return to the Herts County League

And how did you come to your thoughts on the matter - I guess that with yourself being in the loop you know of the full details

Maybe they should be re- named Hertfordshire/Middx section and Beds and Bucks section

Surely there is an option 3. Prem of 10 teams, top 9 from div 1 and crawley green. Then 2 regional divisions of 10 and 9. Still allow promotion and competition. Removes the need for midweek fixtures for reserves. If number of games is a problem change the reserve cup to groups.

We did think this could be an option. Plus you could have a play off between the 2 regional Divisions to gain promotion into the Res Prem..But sometimes it really depends on what you use your Reserves for. Everyone once success that includes the reserves but a lot of clubs treat their reserves as a seperate side witihn the club and thats fine but our view is that the reserves are their to promote youth and up and coming talented players and a link to feed the pinnacle of your club ie the 1st Team. Because without a succesful 1st team the Club goes now where, never mind how many trophies your Reserve's have won !

But many clubs like Reserve Team midweek games

Karen - In the article in the Welwyn & Hatfield Times last week it has Kentish Town as 'provisional' for next season but there's no mention of that on this thread:
