I understand that Terry Back has resigned as manager and Scott Honeyball and Paul Armstrong have signed for Leyton....!

What happens if/when EFC is taken over by the fans......will you merge...?

This way you'll proabably gain "promotion", cos you aint gonna win it.......

1 Ilford

2 Concord

3 Basildon

4 ETFC

Cheers <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I think you have the top 3 right but not sure about the order. I think if Town do win it it will be well deserved. It is harder for you as when ever teams play you they raise there game simply because of the amount of people there are watching. Everybody enjoys playing in front of a large crowd and nobody like letting them selves down.

Concord are very good though and so are Ilford. The whole league is close so it should be exciting.

As a member fans owned club, the club will do what the membership want but I dont think we are in a position to pay anything for EFC or would wish to. EFC might do better to merge with that other club that is currently taking on all its players. Town has a history of its own and access to a ground back in the borough where we belong!

EFC was a great club in the past in the days of Tommy Unwin, ETFC is the future and a club that is going places.

I don`t want to merge with them, they are no longer Enfield just a poor, very poor, shadow of a once great club.even the name now has little meaning, with our own name getting more and more respect.

Posted on the Ryman Thread

I have read in the non-league paper that the fans of Enfield are to take over the club and run it as a trust. They say that they want to emulate Enfield Town and AFC. Wimbledon.

The difference is that Enfield Town and AFC Wimbledon have a fan base. It is clear that the E's fan base has gone and will not return with them playing in Boreham Wood. If there is no fan base how will the existing supporters find the funds to run the club?

As an E's fan of longer standing than any left at Enfield and now a fan of Enfield Town it is my view that the future of football in the borough rests with the Town and their supporters. I reckon that next year or the year after the Town and Enfield will be playing each other in a lower league than Ryman div 1 North. Enfield are going nowhere and Town are obviously going to be promoted in the next two years.

If the supporters of Enfield are genuine then it is my view that they should approach the Town to offer an amalgamation. The town in my view should be magnaminous and change their name to Enfield. In this way the new club would have the history of both teams and be well on their way to success. The borough would know which club it has to support to make up for its mortal wounds on Enfield. For it is clear that Enfield will die unless an amalgamation occurs. The Town is the future of football in the borough.

Regards

1. Why should we merge. The spirit of ETFC is unique and now owes nothing to the former club. We are finding our own way and should continue to do so.

2. Why should the name be changed. Enfield Town is THE club now. Being magnanimous has nothing to do with anything.

3. Too many people have derided our club and I personally want nothing to do with them. Our future is our own and EFC's is their own. Good luck to them but no thanks.

it seems that the majority of etfc fans want our name enfield forget it you will never have it get on with your own lives and leave us alone you choose your team and thats that finished hope you do come up next year then we can beat the [***!!***] out of you and shut you lot up once and forall so make your minds up do you want to support us efc the team that has all the great history or that crap that plays at a crap ground etfc you decide but choose carefully you think about it sitting in a nice stand in comfort or freezing your bulls of at brimmo good hunting to you .........russ

Jim you are right and Russ you are also right (a bit extreme in your presentation but the gist of it is correct). Both sides need to retain their own individual histories and identities. I don't know where all this rubbish about merging came from but standing on the newly laid *terrace* under our new stand at Goldsdown Road last Saturday I never heard a whiff about merging. We have nothing to gain and all to lose from a merger.

Keep the TOWN in Enfield Town!

Besides, we have a ready-made derby match. Think what we would get when we finally meet in the league!

We don't want your name - keep it. I hope we can play you next season as well so we can stuff you again. It's clear we have made our minds up. Attendences prove that. Were there more goals than supporters at yesterdays EFC game? I agree, Enfield has history but Enfield IS HISTORY. Enfield Town is the team in the borough and the team with a future.

I can only see EFC surviving as a Ryman club until the end of the season....So i can't see us ever meeting in the league.

Guys, I think there is a lot of sense in the above threads (unusual for both EFC and ETFC)

Some folks @ ETFC have come to recognise that they are no longer part of EFC; but just like a lover affair, you always hold a flame for your first love. But life moves on.

The new love is ETFC and as the 120+ who traveleld to Basildon will testify this team, club and supporters have spirit and fight.
