A couple of non league snippets

Biggleswade keeper Ian Brown announced that he is hanging up his gloves.

Very good keeper who very nearly signed for us under Steve Bateman only for lack of transport to scupper the deal.

He announced this a while ago. He told us during our match against biggleswade several weeks ago. He will be a big miss to all opposition fans, always up for a laugh and he made our 3-0 loss enjoyable with the back and forth friendly banter.

Joey Barton has finally been given an 18 month ban for his betting offences.

Will he never learn ????

In fairness RR, Barton broke the rules 1200 times in the process he has been found guilty of. That means he has 2 days ban for each rule break. Seems pretty fair too me. Seems his argument is the FA have effectively retired him with this decision, what he obviously fails to see is he retired himself when he placed the bets in the first place.

Just seen an interview with Jose Mourinho after the Swansea game, with him complaining his team have played too many matches this season.

So far Man Utd have played 57 games in all competitons (August 7th - April 30th)

Slough Town played a total of 59 games in all competitions (August 6th - April 26th)

Shows how much the Premier league players complain about too many matches is total rubbish but also how fit players at non league have to be to play that many matches on top of normal jobs and training.

Yes, congratulations to Maidenhead on their superb season and promotion to the Vanarama National league.

No doubt they will have to strengthen next season with some players leaving.

With a bit of luck , a couple of their cast offs will suit our team ! :)

And hopefully some that don't make their Conference National squad could find their way into ours!

Sorry Glen, didn't see your post !

Striker Jordan Cox was on the bench for the best part of the season but when he came on he seemed to score more often than not. He would be an excellent addition to our forward line. Also Ryan Upward was a bit part player, another good central defender.

I'm sure both are on Bakes and Unders radar.

The most important thing, though, in our recruitment policy for the new season, is bringing in players with the right attributes/mindset for each designated position.

We can all namedrop potential players but finding 'real class' players who bring dedication / passion for the cause of promotion / genuine quality is far harder to define.

I don't envy our managers task, as it is going to be a fine balancing act finding the right sort for what we need.

The last few seasons have been easy in terms of bringing players in. This season I see it as a big step up.

If we fail to recruit wisely, we could find the new season takes a very different turn from the success we've had this season.

No pressure then, Bakes and Unders ! ha ha !
