I see Bracknell Town have lost the Hellenic League title to Thame United today after they Lost 2-1 to Highworth Town and Thame beat Henley 9-0.

It shows that having a huge playing budget does not always guarantee you a championship title.

Would Bracknell have that big a budget? I know it probably wouldn't take much cash as the vast majority are essentially village teams. They are getting decent crowds though compared to what they've had in their recent past. Must say their 'clubhouse' is pretty funky and they've gone quite high spec on the whole clubhouse including changing rooms.

Bracknell have had a striker playing who lives in the Swindon area. Don't tell me he is travelling that distance to play and not getting rewarded for it.  I have heard a lot of rumours about how much they are paying and its much higher than any other club in that league.

Burnham stay up by the skin of their teeth. I hope next season whoever is directing the club from the top, they make a better fist of it than they have in recent seasons.

Whether Mark Betts and Jon Palmer stay at the helm or new management is brought in, Burnham need stability on and off the field.

Good to see Thame United progressing. They have a good stadium and a good set up behind the scenes and great to see Mark West getting success in management. Shame it had to be at the expense of Bracknell, given the ex Slough play off winners in their team.

3spirit - the way the Hellenic league has been set up this season and more importantly, the amount of teams this have lost means i suspect even had Burnham finished bottom they probably wouldnt have actually been relegated.

As for the team/club etc, either they need someone with very, very deep pockets, or someone who knows how to attract some fans, given that even in their heights of winning the central league they still only got about 150 fans through the gate. This season, if they got 50 it was a lot. Id say at the moment the Hellenic League is Burnhams level and maybe central league if they could get some comsistency in the side for a season.

I see your point SloughFlyer. Mind you,you could quote many non-league teams who have paltry attendances.

I agree Burnham need to refocus on what division is best to survive in. I would use Uxbridge as a good model for what Burnham could achieve.

Uxbridge have a good clubhouse and a knowledgeable, steady manager in Tony Choules. They know every season, by their budget, they won't get promoted but year in,year out they have fair runs in cup matches and seem to be able to keep out of the relegation places.

Burnham, on the other hand, have been over ambitious. To me they need to be realistic in what they can achieve. That's not to say they cannot achieve positive things.

They did well under Dave Mudge,Byron Walton and Martin Stone/Laurie Craker but with lofty ambitions, money has to be found from somewhere.

Just as Slough need to live within their means. Burnham need to do the same. Keep chopping and changing managers and messing about with players wages/expenses is always doomed to cause failure.

Perhaps with Mark Betts and Jon Palmer at the helm, a closer unity with Slough may unfold, which could help either team, in way of developing players. We shall have to wait and see on that score.

Whatever, Burnham fc need to get real.
