Congratulations to Mark Bellingham of Paget Rangers in the Midland Football League Division 2 who scored his 700th career goal as Paget Rangers beat Fairfield Villa 4-2 on 10th September. That's some scoring record at any level!

National League club Eastleigh have signed veteran striker Jamie Cureton. The 41-year-old started this season with Farnborough, scoring eight times for the Southern League Division Central side. Cureton was released by Dagenham & Redbridge at the end of last season following relegation from League Two. He started his career with Norwich City, before going on to play for the likes of Bristol Rovers, Reading, and QPR scoring nearly 300 career goals.

Big Local Derby in East Berkshire tonight when Binfield play their neighbours Bracknell in the FA Vase. Will be interesting to see what the crowd will be. Could be 300+ which is huge for Hellenic clubs.

I had a smile when i read the Bracknell twitter today, It says " BIG LOCAL DERBY AT BINFIELD TONIGHT IN THE FA VASE,  3 POINTS UP FOR GRABS".

Getting a bit to excited i feel.

The '3 points' thing is a bit of an in-joke stemming from when either George Short or Jamie McClurg ran the club's twitter account during a game a few weeks ago.

Bracknell deserved to win. They were on top in the first half when Binfield took the lead from a superb long shot (sorry pun unintended). I think Bracknell hit the woodwork in the 1st half. Bracknell pretty much dominated the 2nd half hitting the crossbar and then missing a penalty. I saw a hand hitting the ball and then Adam Cornell scored. However the goal was disallowed and a penalty was awarded. The sequence was apparently Cornell was shoved in the back (penalty) and then handled the ball before scoring. A goal was initially signalled by the referee before the assistant referee put matters to right. The penalty was then missed! Bracknell finally got their reward with in quick succession a headed goal by Cornell and a goal poked in by George Short. As Longshot says not a great game but not without incident.

I thought the first goal was scored by Joe Grant?.  Binfield were as i expected played some nice football but never really had a cutting edge up front. If the rumours about how much Bracknell are paying players are true then they were a disappointment as i expected a lot more. If they are favourites to win the league then an improvement on last night is much needed.

I saw in the news a few days ago that Mark Le Tissier (brother of ex-Southampton & England player Matt Le Tissier) has been appointed as the new Chairman of Ryman League South club Guernsey FC.

Mark Le Tissier was one of the club's founders and is also their General Manager, a role he will continue while serving as chairman.

Guernsey won their first game with Mark Le Tissier as Chairman 5-1 against Herne Bay on Saturday 24th September, a much needed win which moved them up to 18th place in the League Table with 7 points after 9 games played.

Burnham lost 1-2 tonight at home. A small crowd of 47.  I think they need to change their midweek match night as when they clash with Slough home games their attendances will suffer.

Binfield changed to Monday nights to avoid clashing with Bracknell and it has proved to be a good move for both clubs.
