A couple of non league snippets

Chipstead (our FA Cup opposition) were 3-0 at home to Hastings after 21 minutes..... 12 minutes later though it was 3-3, at that is how the match ended.

After three league matches they have 2 draws and a defeat.

As it's the FA Cup next week it's probably not really relevant how Chipstead are performing in the league.

Slough connections with non league goals this week include Adam New and Steve Duff for Hartley Witney.

Dan Hicks scores for Flackwell Heath.

Chris Seeby gets two for Hendon in their away match against Merstham. Charlie Strutton scores the winner for Chalfont St Peter against Arlesey. Anaclet Odhiambo nets twice for Marlow in their 2-1 win.

Luke Knight scores a penalty for Bedford in their 1-5 away win against Beaconsfield.

Elliot Buchanan scores twice in a 3-1 win for Margate over Weston Super Mare.

3spirit, I see you've still got a soft spot for two of your favourites, Charlie Strutton and Buchanan.

I wonder if Strutton has signed for Chalfont on a permanent basis? If so what a waste of a talent if he's anywhere near his best.

I wonder how old Anaclet is? he looked about 40 when he played for us or perhaps he's just had a hard life.

You're right, I rate both of them.

Charlie was at Maidenhead, not sure if he's left permanently or has been loaned out to Chalfont.

Without knowing for definite, think with his injuries he's wary on playing on 3g,so that might be why he hasn't played for us.

Though our managers might not be interested in him, which as a guess I wouldn't think is true.

That's my only concern for 3g, in that experienced players who have suffered the odd injury or two will be put off by playing on that surface, as it appears that the surface isn't every footballers dream pitch to play on.

We shall have to see how this pans out with our signings in the oncoming years.

Have you got the right bloke? Anaclet was young looking when he was with us. He was an Eddie Denton signing. Of course he may be knocking on a bit now.

Hungerford have done well in signing ex Reading defender Nicky Shorey who has a wealth of experience.

Well known to there manager after his time at Reading.

It never stops does it!? I always wondered how Oxford City had managed to scale the leagues and were in with a shout of promotion to National League (Conference National). When you looked at their crowds they were barely more than us when we were at Beaconsfield. Why would an "investor" think that City were a viable proposition when Oxford Utd. are far and away the biggest club in the city?

Far better to have a healthy club playing at a level it can sustain IMO.
