A couple of non league snippets

Plus with Wycombe Wanderers on their doorstep any football/casual fan will probably watch them. Then you have the ease of a direct rail line and road (M40/A40) into London to watch the plethora of clubs there, you can see just how difficult it is.

The SYCOB part came as a result of the merger between Beaconsfield United and Slough Youth Centre Old Boys teams in 1994

Edit- we will have to see if they fair any better than Windsor and Eton did after we left them. I'm sure their coincidental financial problems only hurt them after we stopped paying rent. (Only a joke)

Yes I know, SRJ, about the merger.

Going to be hard for them financially now Slough are leaving but they've managed to get a new chairman and seem to have good connections on the football front, so I hope they do well for many more seasons to come. Good to see Trevor Bunting is well thought of there, too.

I've enjoyed our stay there and will still go to watch a few games when I can, as I prefer Beaconsfield to Burnham or Windsor or Uxbridge in the local vicinity. To me seems a friendlier club somehow.

Lower League teams cant be stuck out on a limb. Need to be in town. Lets start knocking down superstores & return clubs to where they belong

While I agree, BOH, that if you want to be higher up the pyramid, you need to be in a good populated area to progress.

I don't necessarily agree that non league teams playing at lower levels around the country ie Hellenic,  Combined Counties, Spartan or even teams in the Central or Ryman Division South or North need any such thing.

That's the beauty of the non league game. I love seeing teams like North Leigh, Kings Langley, Beaconsfield, Flackwell Heath etc . Small teams upsetting the odds. That's what grass roots football is about. Minnows beating the Goliath's.

Mind you I am in the Village Green Preservation Society ! ha ha !

What a great idea, but what will all the housewives do with themselves at the weekend   ;)

Washing, ironing, hoovering............oh, I forgot that was the old days ! ha ha !

Now it is the househusbands that have to do it ! Something has gone awry ? !

Hark.......I think I can hear the thunderous stomping of footsteps of the lovable Slough FC ladies coming towards me. Must dive for cover !  GULP :D

Declan Benjamin has signed for Banbury. IMO he would have been a great signing for us as an 'enforcer' in our midfield.

Seems the Oxford City supporters have still not been informed as regards Paul Stonehouse joining us.

His attitude wasn't great though, was it?  As good as he started out, his performances tailed off. So I think we are better to look for someone else.
