Temi has left

Losing Dan was a massive blow but now Temi too, this is a big disappointment. Yes you can understand his reasons but to lose in my mind 2 of our 5 best players so quickly isn’t what I was hoping at all. Just don’t want to hear Goddard is also leaving now, man we need some very positive news and soon.

And at Step 5, Burnham miss the play-offs losing to Wokingham last match of the season, & Chalfont are relegated to Step 6 (where they will be playing Windsor & Langley).

Now Burnham have missed out on the playoffs, after losing 3-0 to Hilltop when they needed to take 3 points. Holyport in the playoffs instead

I didn't see that coming.

I did HR. If you'd have said who did I think wouldn't be with us next season I'd have said both Dan Lincoln & Temi Eweka. Dan - cricketing commitments, Temi - wages/full time. Don't think you can argue with either of those, cricket season is now massively overlapped by football and we're not a full time club.

Dan has denied there was any problem with his football/cricket commitments.

Scott has stated during his discussions with Dan that 'things didn't add up' so in the end it was an amicable parting of the ways.

As far as staying I had them both down as a 'don't know' rather than a definite no.

Dan said he was always committed to his football, never mentioned cricket.

You can be fully committed to 2 sports, when you play them at different times.

Basically, he’s 100% available and committed to football, when he does not have a cricket commitment.

I stand corrected in that Dan said he was 100% available and committed to his football with no mention of cricket.

We know that Football and Cricket overlap to a certain degree so you can't be fully committed to both.

Unless I'm mis-reading what your saying your last line suggests you think he's 100% committed to cricket and not football?

As good a goalkeeper Dan was/is, we need someone who can be fully available. Be interesting to see where Dan ends up playing next season. Hoping we can find an experienced goalkeeper (and there’s plenty out of contract) and not go down the young loan route again (unless of course it’s another Will Dennis!).

Scotty cleared this up, no need to talk about it anymore.

Bromley beat Solihull Moors on penalties to be promoted to The Football League (I don't like saying the EFL, it'll always be The Football League for me).

It got me thinking about some of the games we've played against them:

10/02/2004 Bromley 0-4 Slough Town
14/04/2007 Slough Town 0-8 Bromley
And of course the FA Trophy game earlier this season. I wasn't there, but apparently we played them off the park.

It'll be odd looking back at seasons like the 2003/04 (which I do from time to time to reminisce) and see that the side we stuffed 4-0 in the Ryman League Division One South on a cold February evening in 2004 in front of a bumper crowd of 226 are now in The Football League!

Just about sums up our season.

Rise to the occasion against the better sides and mostly disappoint against the lower struggling sides.

This got me thinking about the other sides we played in the league (which was step 3, before the pyramid re-structure) that year and where they played this season; comparing them with Bromley is like comparing chalk and cheese!

Ashford Town (Mx) - Isthmian South Central (Step 4)
Banstead Athletic - Southern Combination Division One (Step 6)
Bracknell Town - Southern Premier South (Step 3)
Bromley - National League Premier (Step 1), promoted to The Football League.
Corinthian-Casuals - Isthmian South Central (Step 4), relegated.
Croydon - Southern Counties East League Division One (Step 6)
Croydon Athletic - Defunct, now AFC Croydon Athletic playing in The Combined Counties Premier (Step 5)
Dulwich Hamlet - Isthmian Premier (Step 3)
Egham Town - Combined Counties Premier North (Step 5)
Epsom & Ewell - Combined Counties Premier (Step 5)
Hampton & Richmond Borough - need no introduction: National League South (Step 2)
Horsham - Isthmian Premier (Step 3)
Leatherhead - Isthmian South Central (Step 4)
Lewes - Isthmian Premier (Step 3)
Marlow - Isthmian South Central (Step 4), promoted.
Metropolitian Police - Isthmian South Central (Step 4)
Molesey - Combined Counties Premier (Step 5)
Staines Town - Did not play, possibly defunct.
Tooting & Mitcham United - Combined Counties Premier Division South (Step 5)
Walton & Hersham - Southern Premier South (Step 3)
Whyteleafe - Defunct, now AFC Whyteleafe, playing in The Southern Counties East Football League Division One (Step 6)
Windsor & Eton - Defunct, reformed club now play in the Thames Valley Premier League Premier Division (Step 7)
Worthing - also need no introduction: National League South (Step 2), possibly promoted.

Fascinating what differing fortunes have befallen the teams, particularly when compared to Bromley. Unfortunately one or two have folded and no longer exist.

edited to reflect Marlow's promotion

Marlow are promoted after winning 3-1 today against Leatherhead.

I know there was some bad blood about the B&B semi-final back in 2019, but Mark Bartley has undoubtedly done a great job and transformed Marlow since they were relegated to the Hellenic League in 2012. This was their 4th play-off for promotion to step 3!

Some of us are old enough to remember beating Bromley in 1990 with a late Neal Stanley goal to win the league and to gain promotion to the Conference League, as it was called back then. I believe that the result relegated Bromley that season, perhaps someone else could verify this point.
