A couple of non league snippets

It seems that it's not only some of the Farnborough fans who have a bad reputation.

Chippenham have announced that their home game with Weymouth will be segregated.

Ties in with the crowd trouble that happened when Weymouth played Farnborough the other month.

it seems that both Weymouth and Farnborough have had problems with some of their younger so called supporters.

Meanwhile back at Hungerford, top striker Conor McDonagh, who has scored 17 goals in 20 games, scored a hat trick yesterday in their 3-3 draw with Beaconsfield.

Damn we must have picked the wrong striker from Hungerford, can we please swap?

Conor McDonagh is 31 as opposed to Slavi who is almost 22.

So we're probably looking at potential with Slavi and crossing fingers that he stays injury free rather than immediate with Conor who's experienced and been around the block but has scored goals wherever he's been mainly at levels below the NLS.

After a delayed start Chesham got done 4-0 at Plymouth Parkway yesterday.

It seems some of the players went by train, which for some reason took 6 hours and the players didn't arrive at the ground until after 4.

Yeah everything that could go wrong, did wrong. Not the first time the club have travelled to the South West by train, and we're not the only club in our league to do it

Planned train for the whole squad out of Paddington cancelled, next one an hour later ends up delayed by 1 hour outside Taunton and then a further 30 mins outside Plymouth itself.

4.30pm KO in the end after a 10 minute warmup

Must admit I didn't realize there were many clubs/players if any went by train, must be more expensive than going by coach.

Can only be to avoid traffic/roadworks.

BTW well done on securing your top scorer for the rest of the season for your promotion push.

Some London region National League clubs used to travel to York by train. Two hours by train, five hours by coach…… and even now you can get return tickets for about £50, which would make it cheaper than a coach, and completely avoid a possible night stay over.

I don’t know if they still do.

3 hours from Paddington by train

5 hours from Chesham by coach, with 1 stop

Cost I think would work out the same with bulk booking, and a more comfortable travel environment. Seats, tables and players could walk up and down the train if they wanted to stretch legs

Massive for us to secure Ric, sounds like quite a few clubs in your league came in for him but 22 in 25, keep up that form and he'll hit 40 by season's end and hopefully get us promoted finally

I see your point on the cost and travelling times going by train.

Mind you you've still got to get to Paddington and then the time waiting for trains/connections which must add more time to the journey.

It's pretty certain that we were in for him being just down the road but fair play to him for staying loyal although no doubt he's had a wage rise to help with his decision.

I was watching over the weekend an hour long documentary on youtube.

It seemingly has been out for a year now, but I do not recall anybody on here talking about it or referring to it.

If I'm wrong and missed any comments or discussions about it I apologise for wasting your time

Put it down to old age , and ignore the rest of this post !

The documentary is called    "Gate Money . Inside non- league Football's Funding Fiasco ".

It is a Panorama style, investigative  search to try to unravel the method by which the National League board divided up the 10million pound grant it received from the Government via the National Lottery, to give to it's member clubs during those Covid days.

The method they employed was totally unfair and distinctly disadvantaged many clubs, but funnily enough  greatly boosted each of the  clubs that the  members of the National League board represented.

This documentary is an absolutely damning indictment of those  people on the National League board.

At the end it even talks a bit about the clubs (like ours), who got fined because they declined to fulfil their league fixtures a week or two before the National League officially announced that the season was over.

I think it is a great watch, and if you stay with it till the end I'm sure you won't think that you've wasted an hour of your life that you will never get back !

Hopefully I've been able to put a link to the video below, if anybody is interested.

Unfortunately I think that was discussed for numerous weeks, if not months, on here.

Yes I know that we talked about  what happened on here, but are you saying that you have seen the video before?

I found the video really interesting, getting the insider views of several owners and chairman of clubs that were severely impacted by what went on.

If you don't Curtis, that's fine with me.  😄

Second time I've watched this and it doesn't get any better. Downright despicable and Barwick has basically done a runner, the others protecting themselves behind a shield. I still feel infuriated by the fact that our club got fined and upon appeal got a further "fine" as did others. You can see why we struggled post covid and why others have also.

I'm still enraged that the NL is so massively biased towards its top 24 clubs whereas the other 48 are so under represented in voting rights and sponsorship/TV monies. It's almost as if the top league is their priority and the other divisions are something they could do without.
