Looks like 8 defeats in their last 10 matches (including a loss in the FA Cup to Ramsgate, 3 levels below), and probably play-off/promotion aspirations after finishing 4th last season have prompted this.

Plus spunking £30k on flop Pavey wouldn’t have helped his cause!!!

Just looking through some tables and just seen how badly both Concord and Cheshunt are doing after getting relegated last season, even Dulwich are only mid table.

Concord look like they are going straight out the bottom again.

Concord and Hungerford last season got going too late to save themselves, though Concord nearly pulled off the great escape. Had they got going a month earlier...

See also Kettering Town (relegated last season from National League North), and how they've struggled in the Southern League Central.

It can become a downward spiral when relegation happens.

Quite often it means a new manager, new players, in debt and a lot less money to build a team.

Get that wrong and the spiral starts.

Kettering are an example of a big name club who look to have been mismanaged for a number of seasons and are struggling to stay at a decent level.

I thought the appointment of Andy Leese as Kettering manager seemed a strange decision, given that he was Enfield's manager for around 4-5 seasons, and before that at Chesham and Potters Bar.

He may live that direction but where's his contacts in the area for getting players in?  Plus Kettering appointed him without much of a pre season and so Andy Leese was always going to have an uphill battle over there to start with.

The fans didn't seem to take to him either, as he was trying to play a lot of long ball stuff[when results didn't go his way]. Steve Bateman[his assistant manager] left before Andy Leese got the sack,so perhaps Steve could see the mess Kettering are in behind the scenes. Either way it is a shame to see a big non league name hit hard times but sometimes a regroup can be the making of a club, like Slough Town FC have had over the years.

The thing is that Kettering are a big name in non-league, and this has happened before in very recent history. They lost their old ground at Rockingham Road in 2011 and went from being in the Conference in 2012 (when they went down 2 divisions rather than the usual 1) to Southern League Division One Central in 2013. They recovered to National League North in 2019, but now history appears to be repeating itself. The question is why such a big club are in such a mess yet again?

I suppose it's a case of if you don't get it right off the pitch the playing side will eventually suffer.

For those who havent seen our main site Bromley have recalled Georgs Alexander.

To be honest, I don't think that's such a bad thing. He really hasn't been firing (goals or otherwise) for quite a few weeks now. Great contribution over the end of last season and time with the club, but scored goals in bunches and we need some more consistency from our strikers. Will be interesting to see how he gets on moving forwards as I think he has quite a bit to prove at National League level.

I agree, his first stint basically kept us up so of course forever grateful for his massive contribution. The start of his second stint was fruitful but for whatever reason he’s just not been able to find the net for a while now. So it’s probably best for all parties it ends now and I’m sure Scott is on the case with regards to signing a new striker to get us those goals.

Why? We currently have 3 recognised strikers in Platt, Minhas and Bala, with Hutchinson, Ogbonna and Abisogun (out on loan) as forward players/wingers. With Bala's arrival I thought we were oversubscribed with forwards, so perhaps Alexander's departure is not surprising.

Bala is more a winger according to some QPR forums plus a couple of mates. So only 2 out and out strikers and Minhas has been struggling for goals and Platt is still getting upto speed. Not saying we will sign another striker but I’m pretty confident Scott is looking and talking.
