A couple of non league snippets

Just gone onto the club website to check details of a match from a previous season, and I've noticed that the "Fixtures and reports" section is now showing the club badges of the team we were playing against.

Not sure how long it has been like that, but I've just noticed it.

Nice, colourful touch.

It seems almost too trivial to mention, (but I'm going to 😄 ), but  all the games that took place midweek are seemingly put down as a 7.45 kick off.

I'm pretty sure that for many years the kick off time for midweek matches was 7.30, and only got changed to 7.45 well after I started watching Slough.

That's how I remember things anyhow !

H/R I noticed yesterday when looking that the site's design has completely changed looks superb.

I'll be honest and say as it is big and bold, when I first noticed it I thought it was a glitch in the system 😁

Looking again with our EDS, Ladies squad and club badges it looks like it's all been given a revamp it's looking good and a lot more professional.

Excellent work from the club.

I go on this "fixtures and reports" part of the website fairly often looking back to matches from past season's, and this section is so well done.

Complete team line up's, opposition's played and scores of the matches  going back to our very first season back in the 1890's !

Fantastic job.

It is indeed a fantastic resource even if it must occasionally be viewed with a little caution. The user has to take into account that its accuracy (or otherwise) is dependent on how the person recording the outcome of the matches did so at the time. The "heroes" who painstakingly entered them on to the website can't have been expected to pick up certain "idiosyncrasies" recognisable to those who were around at the time. So for example Bob Underwood, a stylish left back of the early-mid 70's becomes Keith Underwood for season 1975/76 and reappears as before afterwards. And as for the long-serving secretary's son, who spent the best part of his playing career elsewhere, see Mick/Micky/Mike Brown. But it remains a veritable goldmine for which we, and in particular those of us whose memories may be fading a bit, should all be grateful.

KGB, thanks for those, will add them to the list of things I’m checking on the historical data as want to ensure it’s as accurate as possible.

Certainly couldn’t have done it without the help of Alan Smith, Steve Chapman and our past and present website gurus (Chris B and Tom)

See Matty Stevens played along side Troy Deeney who scored a hattrick for F/G/Rovers but still on losing side 4-3 on Saturday.

Remember Stan Collymore played his last game against us scoring a hattrick before moving to Southend but still on the losing side as we won 3-4🤣

put them three nil in front in about 30mins if memory serves.

Exactly the reasons to fully check out football club owners before they take over and why as many questions as possible need to be asked to find out if there is anything tucked away in their past!
