A couple of non league snippets

I've just been on the Farnborough Fan's Forum page and if you believe what's on there, there were strange going's on at their match yesterday (Tuesday).

Farnborough had to play a Hampshire Senior Cup Tie against Folland Sports.

Spencer wasn't happy about having to play this match and the team he picked apparently was made up of 4 first team players and 7 supporters.

( He had seemingly put a video out on Youtube a couple of days earlier asking for any supporters who fancied a game to pass their names on to the club ).

Farnborough lost 4-3, but still charged adults 10 pound to get in to watch the game.

That's what I've read, and Spencer's interview after the final whistle suggests this might be true.

Surely it can't be , but that is what the Farnborough fans are saying !

It is absolutely true. Their head of media was skipper and they also played a goalkeeper at centre back.

Personally I think the county cups are a waste of time & effort for clubs at our level….. I won’t be attending them & hope we don’t play any regular first team players in them.

I know where you are coming from Curtis but I just think playing supporters and charging people good money to watch the game is taking things too far.

If I had any  connection to the team Folland Sports I would feel pretty insulted.

A lot of supporters think the same until we reach the semi final or final and win it.

Clubs like Farnborough or any club that moan and complain and disrespect the competition by fielding a side full supporters, just don't enter the competition and take the fine instead then they won't have to whinge and moan about it.

The blokes got a brass neck and a cheek.

Playing supporters, who presumably must of been registered, and still charging £10.

Hopefully there's a rule that means the club will receive a fine.

Spencer isn’t stupid, It must be within the rules as it’ll be very irresponsible to risk a fine? Plus why not just play the reserve/youth/academy players?

Although I am not a fan of Spencer’s, he must be applauded for showing the county cups the respect they are due.

He quiet rightly sees the league as his first priority, and then only cup games which have any reward worth playing.

Their pitch last year was a bog for much of last winter, so why risk playing mickey mouse games on it when it could jeopardise more important games.

It also saves on having to provide a spread for the freeloading county officials.
