Could we be coming up against Ogo Obi in our first league game? Surprisingly he’s currently trialing at Maidstone United.

I thought he would end up at a National South club….. he scored 10 goals at this level in 2,632 minutes of playing time last season.

That’s 1 goal in every 3 matches or approximately 15 league goals a season. If Nathan Minhas & Mickel Platt both do better than that this season then we will definitely finish in the top half of the table.

I've no doubt that next season in the NL Ebbsfleet's spending and debt will be a lot higher than it's ever been.

As long as the money man retains his interest in the club they will survive making huge losses each season.

How does this fit with Financial Fair Play? The money man can continue to pay ad infinitum, but it's clearly unfair on those clubs that live within their means.

Ogo has now signed for Maidstone! Must admit I didn’t see that move coming.

As I've said previously I rate him and didn't want to see him leave Slough this season. Scott's made his decision so we have to live with it and move on. It will be sod's law if he scores against us,though, and I could see it happening as he is more of a handful than some recognise and will be 'chomping at the bit' to get one over Slough/Scott. Let's hope our defenders can nullify him on the day, and our strikers have their shooting boots on to find the back of the Maidstone's net.

He says he really enjoyed his time at the Rebels in his joining interview on the Maidstone site

Ogo scored 5 in 24. He showed flashes of quality but they were sporadic. This suggests Maidstone may not have the budget of previous seasons and his signing makes me optimistic that we can  compete in the top half. We let him go and a so called title contender have taken him.

I agree that he had some skill but he was too inconsistent and lazy. If he gave his absolute best every game then he’d be decent but obviously it wasn’t just his football that there were concerns about that Scott alluded to. I’ve no doubt he’ll play well against us as he’s got a point to prove to both clubs but I’ll be surprised if he’s still there come the end of the season.

I'm not disputing what you say here. It seeems Maidstone might not be the force they were but that remains to be seen.

I'm not a mindreader so don't know the reasons Scott decided to let Ogo leave. I would have overlooked his misdemeanours [if it wasn't lawbreaking] to try to mould him into a better forward using Jefferson Louis's football knowledge to do this. To me Ogo Obi proved his worth to Slough last season and will get better under a shrewd man manager. In my opinion we've let go a National South player to replace him upfront with Southern Premier South/Central/Isthmian North quality. I hope we don't rue this lost opportunity.

I wouldn't have called him lazy. Inconsistent maybe but I believe a big run of games with him featuring regularly with faith and somebody taking him aside and honing his skills could be the making of him. I wasn't expecting Scott to do that but I wasn't expecting Scott to give up on Ogo so easily either.

Ok but the games I saw him play he hardly ever tracked back, tackled or got involved in our half.

I’m backing Scott 100% on this one, there was obviously something that we fans didn’t see on match days that Scott wasn’t happy about.

Best of luck to Ogo, apart from in the matches against us.

I agree, for me Scott appears a very fair and reasonable person so it must have been something fairly serious for him to be let go.

But on the other hand Ogo scored 5 goals for a side nearly relegated with Minhas scoring 29 goals for a mid table side in the league below. I would guess if he was playing for a top 5 side he would have scored 35+. I’d much prefer a player who’s used to scoring a lot albeit one level lower than a player struggling to score. Plus with the amount and quality of attacking player we now have I’m very confident if Minhas gets the right service he’ll continue where he left off last season.
