Ex Hemel top striker Jordan Parkes is the new Kings Langley manager.

I thought Jordan Parkes was a centre midfielder predominantly.

Always on the cards that for next season he would be going on loan to a club at a higher level.

Nope it’s no surprise and he fully deserves it but I guess I was clinging onto a small thread he may come back to us! Still it’ll be very interesting to see what calibre of keeper we have on trial through pre season.

Unless Francis loved playing for Slough and he's happy to have his wages slashed it's just not going to happen.

First thing to happen will be his agent on the phone touting him around trying to get him a full time contract.

If that fails he will very likely go to a club within reasonable travelling distance who can offer him the most money which by my reckoning puts Hampton and Farnborough at the fore front for signing him.

Surely with Slough having a new owner we now have more money in the pot to attract players, and Francis Amartey given his latter seasons in non-league football is hardly a 'big fish' to net. I'm hopeful we can still get him.

RR, you seem to know a lot about our club's wage structure, have you insiders information? !

Do we have more money in the pot?

Scott has said that with the budget he's been given he's managed to get our new and existing signings at very good prices.

We can only go by what Companies House stating what our 'potential new owners' financial wealth is.

Even then someone else has already mentioned that this might still not be their true worth.

One things for certain they will not be owners with plenty of money to splash about.

As said before it's pretty certain that Francis will be looking around to find the best deal possible which will very likely rule us out.

What is the point of getting a new owner/s, if Slough as a club haven't anymore money to spend on players?

I suppose the answer is that there is more to new owners than just having pots of money to spend.

New ideas and the energy to push the club forward etc.

For new ideas and energy they could have recruited any number of our fans for that !

I get the idea of a younger man/woman at the helm with good football contacts/fresh ideas but I don't get the idea of changing ownership to someone/s with no financial backing/clout. How's that going to take the club forward?

Managers and owners can over time become a bit stale and set in their ways and as a result a club can fall into a gradual decline which imo is possibly why we struggled against relegation last season.

Fresh ideas and the energy to give the club the impetus it needs to improve the marketing and sponsorship side and as you say having the contacts to bring in players, coaches and an academy which we've recently seen coming into the club.

Of course having more money to spend would help any club but the above should hopefully go some way to helping us back on an upward trajectory.

francis going scottish cannot decide if that is a step sideways or a drop in football quality certainly a step up in wages

Another surprising move and I would say it’s a step up and with a 2 year full time contract certainly the best he could hope for. I was expecting him to drop to our level and part time so his agent has done well (depending on what cut Francis has to give him!!!). The Scottish Championship is probably L1/L2 standard so there will be pressure to perform but if does well this season he could well attract a (lower) Scottish Premiership team the following season.

I have to disagree with you on that, at best I would say it is National League level, and attendances averaging about 2,000 would support that along with two National League clubs being invited into the Scottish Challenge Cup (a competition excluding Scottish Premier League clubs)  a few seasons back & holding there own.

I was going to mention lower L1/top L2 standard which isn’t that far off the best NL teams. Attendance wise difficult to compare when there’s less than half the teams! In any case Francis will be playing at a higher standard as I’m sure had he been offered a full time contract at a NL club he would have taken it.

Interesting as Brain Mc Dermott now Director of Football at Hibernian Football Club.

Hibernian are one of the top five Scottish clubs, probably the equivalent of a mid table Championship club, so with Brian’s experience at Reading & Leeds his appointment there isn’t a surprise.

Wouldn’t be surprised if one of the trial keepers or season long loan players come from Hibs.
