I was at that 7-2 loss at Yeovil, Glen. Slough tried to run and pass through large puddles in the middle of the pitch. The wind was blowing a gale and the rain lashed down for a good while ,and Yeovil just knew how to play their pitch well by getting the ball out to the wingers on the flanks which wasn't rain soddened and getting the ball in quickly to their forwards and thus by-passing the centre of the pitch. They made Slough look silly that day.

Ah my memory isn’t so bad then! This must have been early 90’s and I guess Yeovil either got promoted that season or we’re close to? Problem is whoever comes down and unfortunately it’s looking like 3 of them, that’s 3 of the 7 promotion spots gone already! Yes of course it doesn’t always work that way but the majority would be very surprised if these 3 weren’t all top 7 given their experience, status and support.

I just hope we get either Maidenhead or Aldershot for local interest.

That game was played on 6th April 1991

Surprisingly all 9 goals had been scored with almost 25 minutes still to play

Was that also the game when they had a bucket collection for the ground.

For me the best away Yeovil game was on a Wednesday night 9th April 1986 and a 4-3 win

I believe we were losing 3 - 1 at half time 2nd half Jimmy Brown top striker who joined us from Wokingham came on at the time was struggling to score for us I said to a Yeovil supporter you have won the game now.

But it was to be the turning of Jimmy's career with us scoring two goals and to become a legend the other goals scored by Jimmy Jacobs and Chalky White was good to see at yesterday.s game v Farnborough and looking well.

Also believe after the 4 -3 win Chris got the coach driver to stop at the nearest pub for a celebratory drink before the long trip home as like all of us was on a high.

Chalky was at AP yesterday and is at most home games.

Yeah I saw him at the bar, Alan Smith the stats man mentioned the time he scored a hat trick of free kicks in a 6 - 4 win I think he said v Dulwich.

He would certainly of appreciated Scotts free kicks scored especially v St Albans.

Looking at the top of the Southern Premier South division it looks like another trip to the seaside next season with Weston Super Mare close to winning the title with local rivals Bracknell and Chesham in the play-offs.

As long as it's not Truro, Bracknell or Chesham would be another great local derby for us.

Hi Steve.

Nice to see you posting again.

Just looked at my copy of the match programme for that Dulwich game at the old Champion Hill ground.

I have a local newspaper ( Slough Observer ?) match report of the game which I must have cut out and  put inside my programme at the time.

Chalky's goals were scored in the 18th, 37th and 40th minutes of the game.

( First half hat-trick ! )

The result put us 5 points clear at the top of the table.

The match report also says that "Frank Parsons was booked for a professional foul on Richards who was clean through."

Happy memories !

Frank Parsons didn't take prisoners. Mike Preston told me that Frank had once broken his jaw clearing a corner and they were on the same side.

Cheshunt have re arranged their home fixture against Worthing for Tuesday 25th April which is 24 hours before Worthing are playing their Sussex Senior Cup semi final against Hastings.

Worthing's position set out pretty clearly here and I don't think we would have wanted anything different.

Further to the above, a poster on the club's Twitter feed suggests that the Sussex Co FA allowed one of the competition's earlier ties to go unplayed for four months.

These County FA's certainly don't help themselves and their local clubs when it comes to organizing and running their own competitions.

My step father introduced Frank to Roy Sleep at wexham park he ignored him all evening so Frank joined Staines when he played against us he took chunks out of Terry Brown Frank Did eventually sign for us taking chunks out of opposing forwards
