A couple of non league snippets

I know I'm starting to get on a bit but am I starting to see things that aren't there now ?

I was on my computer this morning when a link appeared from somewhere to a 2 minute colour segment of "The Big Match"  from 1971.

It had Brian Moore talking over colour match highlights of the Amateur Cup semi final replay between Slough Town and Dagenham.

( I was never that keen on Brian Moore, and I'm even less keen on him now as he described Slough as wearing "yellow" shirts ! )

I think he said it was played at The Valley in front of ONLY 7,000.

This was still 4 years away from me becoming a proper Rebels fan, so I wasn't there.

The winning goal was credited to a Dagenham player, but from what I saw I thought it was probably a diving header own goal.

I only watched it once this morning, but now that I've tried to watch it again I can't find any trace of it.

I didn't imagine it did I ?

Tonights game between Bath & DH had to be abandoned after Bath striker Alex Fletcher collided head on with an advertising hoarding  He was eventually taken to hospital and Bath are promising an update I'm  sure we all wish him a speedy recovery and return to full fitness.

Dan Roberts has joined Hungerford on loan and scored tonight in their 3-2 loss to Hemel.

Sods law.

No goals for us but scores on his debut for Hungerford and given MOTM.

I'm sure he'll be busting a gut on Saturday to get one over us.

The Welling manager went on about Slough changing their formations regular,so that it keeps opposition managers guessing what Slough would do. While I don't quite view it like Warren Feeney does about Slough I do wonder what formation Slough will go with against Hungerford and what course of action they use to keep Dan Roberts quiet. A game which Slough need to win in my book.

Chippenham are tonight playing one of the two games in hand they have over us If they beat H&W they will push us ever closer to the relegation group Lets hope H&W bring their A game

Finished  0-3

With Braintree drawing with Farnborough and Dover losing to Oxford that was a actually a decent nights results for us as those 2 results now puts Farnborough and Dover on the same games and only 3 and 4 points in front of us respectively (and of course keeps Chippenham below us, although with 1 game in hand).

Just listened to Spencer's interview from last night and according to him and the interviewer, they play trophy Saturday and then the FA Cup game on the following Saturday. Nothing about our game next Tuesday!!!!! Perhaps we can seek in and nick the points without them knowing.

More importatly, has that game been moved or do we still play next week on Tuesday?

I did hear that Farnborough have requested that our game with them be re-arranged.

If it's down to us agreeing and unless it suits us I'd say play the game.

We need the points and any advantage we can get.

Very sporting Reading Rebel ! ha ha!  How would you have feel if Farnborough did that to Slough.

Would it actually benefit Slough playing Farnborough, in what is a derby match, when we have just lost our managers? I think it may do us a favour to push it further up the calendar,if that is possible.

As I said if it does us a favour then no problem.

We are in a relegation scrap and we need every bit of help we can get.

We should absolutely not be handing out any favours particularly in our current situation. After what sounds like a promising performance on Tuesday, imagine if we play well and win on Saturday? Our confidence will suddenly be high, why would we then not want to play a league game? Naturally Farnboroughs minds may be a little distracted and they may even rest a couple of players but this is all to our advantage. I would be bitterly disappointed if we pandered to their request (if indeed true!).

Sorry Glen, you're going to be bitterly disappointed!
