If they win their replay Hampton home to Derby is a great draw and very likely to be one of the tv games.

Due to safety reasons this game could be switched to another venue.

Surely financial reasons also

I believe that this ruling still stands :-

From the 2003/4 season, no club will be able to benefit financially from a ground switch and those who move for the wrong reasons could be barred from the FA Cup competition in the following season.

But next season, all clubs entering the competition will be required to state on the entry form their ground's maximum capacity. This must be accompanied by a commitment from the club, and a declaration signed by the local safety authority or police force, that the capacity will stand, no matter the opposition.

If an FA Cup tie still has to be switched it would go to the nearest suitable neutral venue, rather than the opponents' home ground. "If games are still moved, any excess money earned by the participants would go into the central pool," said the FA's Paul Newman. "Entry to the competition for the team drawn at home could also be refused for the following season."

You're right Adrian.

Bracknell's priority must be how much money they can make from the game.

The obvious change of venue would be Reading's ground.

Not sure what Bracknell’s capacity is but even if it’s 2,000 why shouldn’t they host it if they can prove to have the necessary arrangements in place? Moving to another venue will kill off any chance they have of a giant killing. You would expect this match to be a strong contender for live tv coverage so making a few extra thousand from ticket sales shouldn’t be a priority.

Ipswich average home gate is 23000  and according to distance away fans travelling is 1500/2000 so decisions to be made!

The Bracknell chairman has today confirmed the game will be played at home although I’m not sure if he’s already spoken with the relevant authorities or that’s just his stance. Considering Sandhurst hosted over 2,500 fans when they played AFC Wimbledon years ago and the stadium is now completely different you’d think they should be allowed at least that figure. I guess there’s a minimum percentage of capacity you need to give to the away team? They certainly have the space so I wonder if they’re thinking of erecting temporary stands to up the capacity?

I dont believe(correct me if Im wrong) that we gave serious consideration to switching the Rochdale and Gillingham ties although our approved capacity was 2000.

Sounds a bit soon to have already spoken to the police etc over safety issues but no doubt we'll find out in the coming days.

So what is this 'central pool' and who does it benefit?

The 'central pool' used to be a fund where a small percentage of all FA Cup replay gate receipts were accumulated, and at the end of the competition these funds were divided equally between the 32 non league clubs that had made it to the 1st round of the competition.

If there were a couple of replays between big Premier League clubs it could often result in a payment of £20,000 plus to each of the non league clubs, with replays only up to the Fourth Round, it is probably much less now.

That’s seven clubs from the National South in the First Round.

I would think the best prospects of progressing are :-

Ebbsfleet v Halifax

Barnet v Chelmsford

The other five face Football League clubs, but it wouldn’t surprise me if at least one of them causes an upset & progresses.

So that is seven teams who have the opportunity to get the financial bonus of extra gate money, FA cup win prize money, and any TV money, which means the financial divide gets even bigger.

I would say it shows the quality of the division we are in & that it is a reasonable expectation to make the First Round every few years (dependant to some extent on the luck of the draw).

As previously discussed on this forum the financial rewards of the FA Cup are not as good as they used to be, but if one of those makes it to the Third Round & is drawn away to a Premier League side then it would likely provide them with the finances to push on.

Away draw at a premier club in the third round would be the ultimate prize but just a live tv game in the first round would bring in sufficient money to help a club try to progress to the next level.

I think last season the TV money for a live First Round match was £67,500 which would be split between the two clubs (half of this for a live replay).

Not enough to make a significant difference at our level.

It is £144,000 for a live Third Round match though, which combined with the Prize Fund from Round 1 & 2, and a share of gate receipts becomes a sizeable sum.

I stand to be corrected but I think the live TV money e.g 67,500 is per club not split between the two clubs.
