Just imagine what it is like for U 'As supporters.

It is now 27th June. Supporters have not been advised directly by the club of any departures or arrivals in the first team squad.

The Fans Forum advises that Francis Amartey has gone to Aldershot Town and Omar Rowe to Farnborough.

There is good news on the facilities :-

New Bar and catering - it’s clear all efforts are focused on completion of the new bar. For anyone who hasn’t seen the footprint … it’s massive. All electrical work is now complete, including fire alarm installation throughout. Plumbers are in for water connection, toilets etc. Builders due in shortly for ceiling completion, internal brickwork and externally sorting the drainage, tarmac and access to the facility. Talks are in an advanced state with a well known brewery (who have a tie with the Marlow brewery so the Rebellion beers will still feature). All good news but clearly still a lot to do. There is a real drive to open for the start of the new season but failing that the World Cup is an absolute must. The shortcomings of not running our own tea bar are acknowledged but whilst an alternative is in place this is not a high priority.

New Stand - I highlighted the fact that the new stand arrived with a lot of positivity but now nearly eight months down the line it’s the complete opposite. The size of the stand (able to hold over 500) deems it a “designated stand” which means it is subject to all sorts of additional regulations. Boils down to requiring council sign off. Why it’s taking so long to get this over the line is not clear but I was assured the stand will be open for the start of the season. The ground will require its annual safety inspection ahead of the season start so at worst the stand visit will be rolled into that.

Tannoy - all present acknowledged the deficiencies of the current tannoy system. Although the music seems clear enough any announcements are indecipherable. Annoying for the 50/50 winning numbers but far more serious from a safety point of view. Appears the amplifier has seen better days but the issue seems to be more around the microphone. It was agreed that a pre-season friendly would be used to conduct a system test with a volunteer “crowd” spaced around the ground to test reception in all areas. This should flush out whether we have a system issue or otherwise.

No thanks.

Sheringham has had more clubs than Arnold Palmer ?

4th time he's returned to Datrford.

He's only really scored a decent amount of goals at a couple of clubs.

They've re-signed 33 year old striker Adrian Clifton as well.

Since leaving Maidenhead 3 seasons ago he's scored 1 goal in 57 games for Boreham Wood, Dagenham and Bromley.

Yeah very odd signing given his recent record. It’s not like he’s still early 20’s and has potential! Maybe he’s cheap and they r had no luck getting other strikers in?

Think we played against this goalie away to Tiverton couple of years ago, looked a good prospect

Rebelade

He played 5 games for Tivvy in 2018 so I'm guessing your memory is spot on!

Maybe he's the king of assists!

Has to be more to it than scoring goals so assists are a possibility.

Having said that the only club he's really scored a decent number of goals at is Maidenhead back in season 17/18.

All of that SG might speak to, or be a contributing factor certainly, why Hayes struggle to attract new supporters and grow the fan base, dispute having good facilities, a good ground (certainly stand) and challenging at the top of the league.

I guess each team has their ways of doing things and I doubt that too many Hayes players will be on "full" contracts so you don't want players being "poached" for a tenner a week extra, but to have given no info at all, even with Rowe and Amarty leaving and being announced elsewhere, is a poor showing to say the least.

Thursday 7th July "Summer update from the board" : Paul and his management team have been working hard securing a strong team for the upcoming season.

Well that's certainly not giving too much away!!!

I don't think Hayes have quite got to grips with what supporters want to know/hear and what's needed to drum up interest and support ahead of a new season.

Each to their own but they really don't seem to have much of a clue on relationships between the club and supporters which ultimately shows in their poor attendances.
