A couple of non league snippets

They’ve only signed 4! Not sure these players can be classed star studded especially as 2 of them have come from a league below. I’d expect them to sign a couple more decent players and be surprised if they’re not top 10.

So far !

Kevin Lokko has three England C caps ! Freddie Grant is an established name at this level. Omar Rowe has come from another team that's chasing promotion and won't be cheap, and is among Hayes and Yeading's better players. Ollie Robinson is highly rated. Do you think these four will be the end of his spending? I can't see it. In fact I would have thought Aaron Kuhl could also be on his shopping list. He's bound to have another striker lined up,too.

GlenSTFC,take a look at the Farnborough squad he finished the season with. Will he be able to keep them all happy?

To be fair to Spencer Day, he is like Steve Bateman in acquiring well known players on the who's who list of non league players but whether he is the right manager to get the best out of them, you would need to ask a regular Farnborough fan,as I do not know.

Talk about fickle supporters, when Farnborough were not doing very well supporters on their forum thought Spencer Day was hopeless as a manager and wanted him out, but now he's gods gift to mankind.

Their supporters are getting carried away with talk already about storming the NLS and reaching the play-offs as the bare minimum.

He's forking out the dosh to get these players lets see if he can mould them into a team.

Didn't Alan Dowson manage Walton and Hersham on a shoestring? I'm sure that's what led to him getting prominence as a manager.

The other thing is Dartford are hungry for success. Does Ryan Maxwell fit their bill?

Dowson managed Walton and Hersham for one season finishing runners up in the Isthmian division 1 and then resigned.

Whether they had a few bob at the time I've no idea.

With Ryan Maxwell they would be taking a gamble but after a high profile manager like Steve King they could be willing to take that chance.

Sure… if you want him to swallow up a quarter of our budget!

I think Nathan Minhas from Beaconsfield is more likely !

How do you know how much Jason Prior would be on, though, Glen? We once had Matt Briggs from Dorking trying out for the Rebels pre-season,so it might not be totally impossible but I'm clueless on what Slough can actually afford, so as you say it might be pie in the sky.

I have my contacts who occasionally give reliable information. Prior was on circa £1k per week, not including bonuses.

I know of Minhas, but has he played at our level previously?

£1,000 !  Forget him then.

No, Nathan Minhas hasn't played at our level, as far as I know. He's only 23 but you don't have to play at our current level to be any good. I've not seen him but SloughFlyer rates him.

Given the amount of goals he scored for the Rams last season, and Slough Town FC currently being paupers, he ought to be one of the players that Slough are bringing in, if the club can get him ! He's got to be worth a gamble on.

I was going to say Jason Prior must have been on a huge wedge at Dorking and not surprised if it was around the £1,000 a week.

Jason Prior has left Dorking as he can't fully commit to them in the National League. We'll have him at Slough!!

Rumored on the Dorking twitter feed to be going to Worthing.

Nathan Minhas has played for Maidenhead, Billericay and more recently Hampton & Richmond.

Maidenhead 1 appearance 0 goals

Billericay 3 app 0 goals

Hampton 15 app 1 goal

The only club he's scored any decent amount of goals at is Beaconsfield.

Dartford have issued a further statement following the sacking of Steve King.

Reading between the lines it seems the never ending turnover of players, the amount of money this cost the club which ended in failure to get promoted was the reason why they made the decision to release him from his contract.

RR, does tomorrow [Thursday]count as the end of the week?

This suspense on new Slough players is killing me, ha ha ! If they could just tell us one player we've got, I'd be happy !

Worthing sounds a good away trip for a match. They must be shelling out if Jason Prior is going there.

Thanks for this info,RR. I didn't know any of this but I still think he is worth taking a chance on,as Beaconsfield play on 3g and he is on form, and those past seasons he was still young and learning. Tommy Wood has improved since we had him,so why not this Nathan Minhas fellow. Besides, have Slough got many ways to go, to get in strikers/goal scorers?

Marc White is quoted as saying " If I'd  known how good he was going to turn out I would have paid 10 times as much to get him"

He would ! ha ha!

How much was it to pay up his contract though? No doubt we’ll see him again soon at the next ‘project’.

Oh dear Mr White spouting out his usual drivel.

He meant transfer fee!

Maidenhead will probably be hoping that Max Kilman is transferred in the summer, as he moved directly from Maidenhead to Wolves in 2018, and the likelihood is that there was a sell on clause.

With an estimated value of £20+ million a 20% sell on clause would be £4 million and if made available to Devonshire could catapult Maidenhead into National League challengers.
