Farnborough have signed midfielder Omar Rowe from Hayes and Yeading.

I wonder if Farnborough and Spencer are doing what they did a few times prior to covid and sign every player on loads of money and then if the season starts badly and they go out of the FA Cup early all these signings will be out the door as quickly as they came in?

With the quality of player they’re signing they’re be a good bet for the play offs.

He will certainly be missed at The SKYex. A very influential attacking midfielder who scored 29 goals in 88 matches for U 'As.

According to Twitter , Dartford have sacked manager Steve King. Not surprising after another  expensive season of failure. Let's hope their board don't have Bakes & Unders on their radar !

CLUB STATEMENT – STEVE KING

24 MAY 2022

Following a board meeting this evening, it was unanimously agreed to terminate the contract of Steve King.

A further statement will be released in due course.

For and on behalf of the board of Dartford FC

Tommy Wood had signed for Hampton after leaving Tonbridge. I wonder if we were one of the other interested parties?

We had him on loan I think from AFC Wimbledon when he was 19/20 and he played against us this season so our managers should know if he was one that should be on our radar.

The names being mentioned for the Dartford job are Alan Dowson, Bobby Wilkinson and ex Braintree manager Ryan Maxwell.

I think Ryan Maxwell must have a decent chance.

I would have thought Alan Dowson would be the favourite out of those three.

I think Dowson is a bit like Steve King in that as a manager he's always been given money to achieve anything.

Ryan Maxwell pulled Braintree up by their boot laces on a shoestring budget.

Didn't Alan Dowson manage Walton and Hersham on a shoestring? I'm sure that's what led to him getting prominence as a manager.

The other thing is Dartford are hungry for success. Does Ryan Maxwell fit their bill?

Yes,they are signing 'on paper' star studded non league quality players but can Spencer Day mould them into a co-ordinated organized team for the commencement of the Conference South season. In some ways he seems to be panic buying. I wonder if this will be good for the Farnborough team spirit of last season's promoted side, before they begin their task. Too many additions could upset the applecart somewhat.

To me Farnborough needed strengthening by a few well chosen new recruits but these wholesale changes may not lead to the automatic success Spencer Day craves. It will be interesting to see how all the new teams in our division get on, and Farnborough look like the side that are going to try and buy their way up the division. Doesn't always work.

I wouldn't mind picking up 1 or 2 of the players they discard for Slough's pre-season games, as players that get ousted out of promoted squads can sometimes have things to prove, which can make ideal players to start the season with ie, good for them in a different club set up, and nothing to lose for our club being that they shouldn't be expensive to sign.
