This is one I’m going to disagree with you on.  But that’s football we all have differing views and opinions.  That said you never know one season from another and what confidence can do for you.

Fair enough. You might be right in your opinion of him, I've not seen him enough to know but I certainly think he is the sort of player Slough would/should look at. To me it is more about his potential to improve, and not the coming season about him being the finished article yet. A good squad option, attack wise.

He's actually older than I thought and played more games for Eastleigh than I knew, so at 23 to 24 an ideal time to sign him, if Bakes and Unders haven't got someone else lined up. My only reservation to this, is do Slough desperately need a right footed winger?

His profile say's he's an attacking midfielder.

Apart from that he lives near Havant which I think is pushing it a bit too far for travelling.

Aldershot fans seem impressed by him, and even on the Eastleigh website [ under the squad players section] they refer to Sam Smart as being a fans favourite. The fact that Eastleigh didn't favour wingers later in the season may have more to do with his departure from there. Given he is still young-ish and can play on both flanks, I would have thought he would be exactly the sort of player Slough would be approaching. Not over expensive, been playing at different levels including above Conference South and has bags of potential for Bakes and Unders to improve and work with.

'Not over expensive'

As far as I can see Eastleigh are a full time club.

George Wells has left Maidenhead United. Sounds like he’s left instead of being released. You would think he has a move lined out otherwise it’s a little foolish to leave. I’d expect him to stay National level or a big spending ambitious step 2 club.

He was a good footballing left back but defensively below par… Hence why Devonshire moved him into midfield… He’ll probably pitch up at Farnborough, I think NLS is his level

Agree that his attacking play was better than his defending but that applies to a lot of modern day full backs.

4 decent friendlies.

Hopefully we can get a decent one like the Arsenal friendly which put some money in the coffers.
