A couple of non league snippets

Imo the best result for the future would be if there was a large majority for one course of action sadly it looks like when the vote is declared there will be a narrow majority for one course of action and a substantial number of clubs who didnt agree. This doesnt auger well either short term or long term for the National League imo.

Let’s be honest here about Marc Whites intentions, he put together a financial war chest to get Dorking promoted.

He pulled in big sponsorship and without knowing the details there must have been some big promises made.

He has put his own money in – fair enough.

However he is prepared to bankrupt as many teams in this league as he needs to, to get Dorking promotion by forcing the rest of the league into a non-viable situation of no gate income.

This stinks of the financial strategy of the top clubs across the world – out pay the opposition and tread on anyone who gets in your way.

If the vote goes against him he will want another vote as he has already iluded, or will maybe threaten legal action which no one else will be able to afford and will just try and bully the result to suit Dorkings objectives.

He needs the season to go on long enough to get a good enough points per game figure, as currently St Albans are on 2.214286 and Dorking are only on 2.166667 (figures are as I write as St Albans are playing tonight) and then when the league calls an end to the season he will have an argument to get promoted.

Clubs like Slough play by the rules and look after the welfare of staff and players – Marc Whites Dorking are not the type of club who I would want to support.

Whether he's bluffing and just getting in with his legal threats early our friend Marc White had done another video saying in his opinion the decision to null and void step 2 is imminent.

I think it'll be wise to take his bluster with a pinch of salt until the decision is officially announced.

Excerpts from the Statement from the Board of Directors of Darlington FC dated Monday 15th February:-

"After several meetings and a huge amount of discussion in the last fortnight, the Board of Directors of Darlington FC has decided that the club will not play our National League North game at home to Boston United on Tuesday 16th February.

It would be unreasonable to require us to get into debt to carry on playing when we relied on the representations by the National League regarding funding and compensation whilst playing behind closed doors.

We are determined that we shall not trade while insolvent – indeed to do so knowingly is illegal. We estimate that we have lost approximately £50,000 in January and probably another £50,000 in February. We therefore believe that we have just cause (under league rule 8.39) in not playing the game on Tuesday.

In these circumstances we believe that we have been misled by the National League, and therefore an objective independent person would consider it wholly unreasonable to require us to play matches until there is resolution to the financial and safety issues that have been known by the National League for many weeks.

We are sure that our fellow clubs and supporters will understand and appreciate why we have taken this course of action.

We will be reviewing our position on a game-by-game basis."

I can not comment on those figures as I have no further details at all.

Very interesting watching Marc Whites interview from earlier today - shows his true colours!

Happy to dump those teams who don’t want to carry on – smaller league for those who carry on and easier to get promotion

Willing to go down the legal route to get what he wants

Starts most sentences with the financial interest and then football second.

He went out and spent big time on high cost players and contracted them for the season, so if the season ends prematurely he has lumbered the club with a massive liability.

He has realised that taking sponsorship for a season that was always at great risk due to COVID19 now leaves him and the financial future of Dorking Wanderers at great risk – are the Dorking fans aware of what risks he is taking with the clubs finances and future?

Thankfully Slough is run on a far more stable and long term model.

I found his views reasonable. He hopes that the National League is working towards a solution that looks after all member clubs.

He could have said what he said in 8 minutes instead of stretching it out to 22 minutes 44 seconds. I wouldn't fancy taking the minutes of a meeting in which he is the main contributor!

I think also that most clubs would hope that the national situation with the pandemic will be such that the 2021/2 season can begin at the normal time with few restrictions in place. That should not be put into jeopardy by whatever is done with the 2020/1 season.

Question to Marc White from a Dorking fan-

‘Can you confirm that the NL have reneged on the claim they were going to supply ‘free’ COVID tests to N&S clubs?’

Answer:-

‘Yes! Apparently they do not want to waste tests on the North & South given the situation.‘

Is that true?

If you look at Ollie Bayliss item on 6th Feb This was only a proposal that required the approval of the League board

It was approved and we were told we were getting them on the 15th of Feb, however this has not been the case.

Thanks for update  The proposal tweeted by Ollie said subject to approval  tests would be supplied w/c 15th Feb  If you were given a firm date of 15th what are they saying re non supply?
