A couple of non league snippets

Think we should tell this cowboy league of financial bandits who care more about money than their players wellbeing, and promise one thing and come up with something completely different, to go take a large object and stick it in their rear passage.

I knew coming up to this level would be different and things would need to change but if this is what the “big boys” football is, then they can keep it and lets go back down the pyramid to where there is far more honour and honesty.

Yes I was at Kings Lynn and previously Kettering where I watched the players and management deliver what was not expected and take us up the pyramid – glory days indeed.

But to be in the position now where we are being pushed into actions on the pitch and financially which are not healthy for the players or the club, I have to question was it worth it?

These comments may not go down well with some, but those who truly care for the club will understand these sentiments.

I’ve supported this club for 35 odd years and I’d be devastated if we were thrown out of the league after it took so many years to get back in it. The worst thing is it won’t be down to performance but events beyond anybody’s control and then forced into decisions which just aren’t fair or practical. The most frustrating part is these arseholes in charge of the league will no doubt get away with it and clubs like ours will suffer for who knows how long...

I’m hoping these idiots at the top are flushed out sooner rather than later and aren’t fit to run any business. But that doesn’t detract away from the tremendous amount of work to get to this level. I wish more clubs would put pressure on there to be change at the top but I guess they’re all scared. Hopefully something will happen soon to embarrass them enough to resign and hopefully new blood will restore faith in the board.

Nonsense imo Every club has an actionable legal obligation to ensure the health and safety of all players officials etc if they dont believe they can then that's a just cause for not playing   The favoured penalty seems to be the the game will be deemed played and the 3 points awarded to the team prepared to play  What will they do when both teams wont play?

Taken from Ollie Bayliss twitter.

It seems even the DCMS are blaming the NL for not communicating properly the details to clubs that grants were not available.

Nigel Huddleston MP: “At no stage was the National League told by DCMS that its support would only be in the form of grants.” “It is unfortunate that the National League chose to communicate this to clubs without first clarifying the nature of the support with DCMS.”

Hopefully this is just a procedural & information gathering information by the National League administrators because it is obvious there is ‘just cause’ at this stage:-

1. Covid testing packs, last I saw, aren’t due to arrive until next week

2. Approval for any grants or loans would probably not have been received by most clubs

and

3. Not wanting to incur unnecessary costs when you have voted for & genuinely believe the season will be nulled & voided

The main concern would be that the National League could have quite a few submitted votes already from clubs, and if it is leading them to believe the vote will be for all leagues to continue then they will need to try to discuss & resolve the ‘just cause’ issues.

Surprisingly Hampton have decided to vote to null and void the season.

As their Chairman succinctly put it he had to let his 'head rule his heart' and think of the future of the club.

Latest statement from the League. Make of it what you will.

National League Statement | Non-Fulfilment Of Fixtures

 about 3 hours agoBy Oliver Osborn

A statement from The National League:

Many things have been written regarding charges recently raised in connection for non-fulfilment of fixtures under League Rules.

It may be helpful to explain that this process is merely a mechanism for the League to deal with each of the occasions for non-fulfilment. No fines or sanctions have been raised or recommended and this will be considered at the next stage.

An Independent Panel will be appointed to hear each case and it will be at this stage the issue of “just cause” as outlined in the rule will be objectively assessed in each case based on the evidence before them.

In the interest of fairness of all parties, the cases will not be heard until such time as the outcome of the resolutions are known.

It is important that the framework in place is followed in a consistent manner in all cases and Clubs are able to make their representations appropriately and fairly.

The League will not make any comment during the process on individual cases in fairness to all Clubs but will issue the outcomes and reasons for the decisions following their conclusions.

Should Clubs remain unsatisfied with the outcome they will also all have the opportunity to appeal the decision directly to The Football Association which will be heard by a further Independent Panel in line with The FA Rules and Regulations.

The above is from the NL's own website.

It looks like it wants to keep the charges hanging over clubs heads whilst continuing to make the rules up as it goes along.

What a total shambles from the National League - they could not organise a piss up in a brewery - total incompetence!

Maidstone have said that if the vote is to continue playing then they will furlough all players and draft in loan players and youngsters who will play for free. With this in mind I have dusted down my old astroturf trainers and await a call from Neil or Jon

Can only agree with your sentiments Ade - the league have messed clubs around, so why not make a joke out of the league.

Even turn it into a "pay to play" setup where the club can get an income from the players?

Great idea must be lots of players willing to cough up so they can truthfully boast " I once played for Slough Town!"

According to Ollie Bayliss there are now 22 or 23 clubs who have indicated support for resolution 3  to end step2 this season  Hereford the most recent to declare this intention

Only going by the graphs that Ollie Bayliss has done 21 clubs are in favour of N&V.

The 3 clubs that seem to have a question mark against which way they will vote are Billericay, Braintree and Leamington.
