Dorking played a friendly match today against AFC Wimbledon under 23's winning 2-0 and on Tuesday they have a friendly lined up against Ebbsfleet.

A "pull the ladder up Jack" attitude. Rather tone-deaf given the circumstances.

Have you any idea how many people without pre-existing health conditions (i.e. heart conditions, lung conditions, diabetes) under the age of 45 have died of COVID in the UK?

Have there been reports of any football players in the UK dying of COVID?

"388 people aged under 60 without underlying health conditions have died of COVID-19 in hospitals across England, NHS data shows.

The figure is just 0.8 per cent of all COVID-19 fatalities recorded in English hospitals between 2nd April and 23rd December 2020."

I watched the 11 minutes 30 seconds interview with the chief executive and the manager of Havant & Waterlooville FC. It clearly defines the reality of the problems the epedemic has caused the club. I also support the realistic views of the board and joint managers of
Slough Town FC.

National lockdown is the procedure recommended by the World Health Organisation and is currently in place in many other countries. I just want to see the daily figures drastcially reduced and countries saying that they can cope with the pandemic. Boris broadcasted what it was like having severe symptoms ... I do my bit to help stopping the spread.

Latest I read from Ollie Bayliss is that at the end of the suspension if acceptable financial arrangements have not been found then all the NLS and NLN teams will be asked to take part in a formal vote to decide the permanent resolution of the 20/21 season.

Dont know where reference to RR at head of this post came from and couldnt delete it.

as usual with some people money over rides all, well when he is sitting in a hospital with an oxygen mask over his face because he is having difficulty because of a covid situation or worse one of his players /family we will see if covid is a side issue, when are these people going to wake up and smell the coffee.

I thought Curtis was supposed to be one of our more intelligent posters,  in amongst the spam and drivel  normally put on here or am I mistaken?

To give Curtis his due, he asked two questions about how many people had died of COVID in the UK.

People have reacted to his post as though he is not taking the pandemic seriously enough in relation to suspending or expunging the 2020/1 National League North and South season.

That's the problem with the written word.

Person 1 can write something that means A, expecting that most people will see that, and agree with them.

Person 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 read that, and create 6 completely different meanings from it, and so on.

Not only that, person 2, who read it in a bad mood, is now on a good mood, and reads it again, this time getting a completely different meaning that they got last time.

The written word, whatever the original meaning, will never be seen in what the writer meant, it is only ever seen in whatever the specific reader sees at that specific time.

Latest on funding is that steps 3-6 will receive  10million as grants  steps 1-2 will be offered loans but any club at steps 1-2 who genuinely cant afford loans can apply for grants  This on Ollie Bayliss page recently

Now it's "genuinely"'s turn to take over the heavy lifting.

From York City FC web-site:-

‘The National League has confirmed that the season will continue after the two-week break.

Fixtures were previously halted from Friday 22 January for a 2-week period (up until Friday 5 February). National League North and South Clubs will continue as normal for those with scheduled fixtures on Saturday 6th February and beyond.’

... and three hours later, the National League have not made a post on their own website.

As is frequently the case with the National League website, I find this very poor.

Sports Minister Nigel Huddleston has said that the government will not let any NLS or NLN team go to the wall  We are offering loans but if any club can demonstrate that they  must have grants to survive we will make that option available.

I'm pretty sure the NL said that if loans and not grants are available they will put it to a vote to decide if clubs want to continue with the season.

Will the NL still put it to a vote even if grants will only be available to clubs if they can demonstrate genuine hardship?
