Seeing as the Club have removed from the Club web-site the comments about a request for ‘6-8 week suspension of matches’ maybe you are right and a backtrack is going to happen.

Nothing has been removed.

I think we should fulfil the fixture on Saturday unless the majority of Clubs in our division agree not to do so.

And I don’t think we should flip flop between excuses for wanting to effective void the season.

If the Club genuinely believe the season should be suspended on safety grounds, then stick to that line, don’t then immediately change to refusing to play matches on the grounds of grants not being available.

In my opinion, calling for a suspension on the initial grounds of safety & now stating we will not be fulfilling the fixture on Saturday when financial issues arise just looks like wanting the season voided for any reason possible.

I think most people currently in lockdown would consider it to be absolute privilege to be able to attend a match, let alone play in a match.

As far as the National League are concerned, I do think they should seek to secure grants for January to March for all Clubs similar in value to those secured in October, and if they don’t achieve this then they should suspend the season after matches on Saturday & Tuesday, and if adequate funding isn’t achieved by mid February & fans still aren’t permitted then the season should be voided.

Agree Curtis  Why would it be safe to play a match having received a grant but not safe if only a loan is available   Finance and safety are both essential but quite separate issues imo

We said it was unsafe 3 weeks ago in our statement.

We repeated today that we were concerned about the risk to our players.

We have been consistent throughout on that.

Really not sure of your point here?

Your question was “Why would it be safe to play a match having received a grant ”.

And the reason I picked you up on this was because we have NEVER said it was safe,

if you have read any of our club statements, listened to any of our interviews, read any of our tweets, you would see we have been 100% consistent on this.

Jon I've read everything you've mentioned the point is you've still been playing games despite your concerns about safety  but the main thrust of the latest discussion is finance   I'll ask you again  had we received a grant early this year would you be going to Eastbourne tomorrow?

For good reason I can’t speak specifically about Eastbourne tomorrow at this moment in time.

What I will say though is the situation is very clear to me and I’m surprised it isn’t to 1 or 2 on here.

October to December - football at our level was not safe but was financially viable due to the grants.

January onwards - football at our level is not safe and is no longer financially viable.

...hence the very clear club statement yesterday.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and this is what a forum is for, and I will step back now and let you guys carry on ‘debating’ if you want to.

Happy to field any questions on here next week when things have hopefully settled a little.

Going by what I've read there will be a definitive answer from the NL very shortly i.e. by the end of next week and that any form of loan should be off the table and if the funding of testing is not sorted out hopefully the season will be suspended.

So for the sake of playing a maximum of two games I would hope that all our efforts over the seasons to get us into the NLS is not thrown away.
