Significant National League meetings will take place this afternoon:

Mark Ives, the interim General Manager of the National League, will meet with clubs from each division.

They’ll gauge opinions on whether clubs are willing to take on loans in order to continue the season.

I am rarely impressed by the National League website.

There is no mention of any of this week's meetings.

The last entry on the "Transfers" page under "News" is dated 18th October 2017.

National League clubs have been asked their views on these options:

1. Clubs take on long term low-interest loans with initial payment holidays
2. The League takes on the loan & gives clubs grants, with future League central payments to clubs then reduced
3. Suspend the season

Clubs have been told to email their views tonight.
The National League Board plan to meet on Friday to discuss the way forward.

The League’s least favoured option is to suspend the season.

The League expects all clubs to fulfil Saturday’s and the following midweek’s fixtures.

Apparently the loans being offered are at 2% interest over 10 years, but even so it is still debt which most clubs can’t afford.

I’m not sure anybody would trust the National League Board with option 2. Would anyone have confidence the deductions from future funding would be determined fairly?

The Club have been calling for the season to be suspended prior to this, so is, or has, the Club voted for Option 3?

And if so, realistically, what would be the longest the season could be suspended for before it would have to be voided?

Didn’t know step 2 received central funding, if so it can’t be more than a few thousand per season? So £125,000 is going to take a very long time to pay off!!!

Must admit I didn't know that clubs received central funding money from the NL which apparently comes from sponsorship.

No idea how much money is involved but either way it's a debt to clubs.

I suppose if you get promoted or relegated you would still owe the money?

1 point that I haven't seen made anywhere thus far - what about promotion and relegation?

I'm not talking about this season and finishing im thinking - so option 2 is taken, the league get a loan in total and distribute it to all clubs for payback over 10 years at 2%, deducted from league funding. All good?. Slough get relegated this season and wouldn't be getting National League funding anymore as they would be in the Southern League???????? Alternatively, Slough get promoted this season and next and go to Div 2, same principle applies!!!!

Option 3 has to be the only sensible one for all clubs (even those with big money owners) as grants and money is 1 issue, nothing in the NL statement about testing or safety of the clubs as a whole!

Was a shambles on Tuesday, is still a shambles now.

As far as I can see there there seems to be no indication as to what term or interest rate clubs will be charged by the NL under option 2 the reduced central payment option.

Also as you say what happens if a club gets relegated to step 3 or promoted into the football league. Does the debt go with the club or does the debt get written off.

They will probably take the club's £50k deposit,  they hold while they are in their league system, as part payment. Unless the contract between club and league forbids that.

Excellent and 100% correct statement by the club?

HR - I would be surprised if the deposit would be able to be withheld under the terms or the current agreement, HOWEVER, if Option 2 is taken by the league, I guess they might put something in the "grant" (LOAN) from the central pot agreement to protect the league in the event of promotion/relegation that could include the league deposit.

If according to the e mails sent by clubs that option 3 is the preferred option would the NL then put it to a vote?

The last vote taken gave NL clubs 1 vote each whilst the NLS/NLN clubs only got a few votes each.

Could be the way the NL will try to worm their way out of option 3.

The only sensible and correct response from the club  ?

The part that requires further clarification is:-

'By suspending the season for 6-8 weeks, it gives The National League time to pursue the funding matter further without the club incurring further costs.'

If we played our matches on Saturday & Tuesday, as requested, and then the season was suspended for 6-8 weeks, we would have played 14 league matches & have 26 still to play. But the season would not re-start until the 13th or 27th March, and there would only be 9-11 weeks remaining if the season was to be completed by the end of May. And I don't think that is in anyway realistic.

So, is the Club also asking for the season to be extended by 6-8 weeks, or is this effectively a request for the season to be voided?

I honestly can't see the National League voiding the season because in doing so they would forego the promotion spots to the Football League, and also deny clubs at the top of the National League North & South the same opportunity we had of play-offs & promotion last season.

Blimey the s***s really hitting the fan now.

As Adrian has said Concord are refusing to play anymore matches until the league sort out the funding for testing and we have told the NL that we don't intend to travel to Eastbourne on Saturday and want any decision to suspend the league done before Saturday's round of games.

Presumably this is on this assumption that option 3 to suspend the league is the unanimous decision by all the other clubs otherwise expulsion/3 point deduction or a fine could be heading our way if we don't travel to play Eastbourne.
