A couple of non league snippets

I guess if the league wanted a reason for the season to finish this would be it!!! No club in their right mind would take on any loan and why bother as how many others would? Lobbying might work but it could take weeks so are clubs just expected to continue paying whilst this gets sorted with no guarantee of getting this money back? I think this is final straw now...

I understand that the DCMS has indicated to the National League that their £11m of funding will be in loans. Grants will only be available in exceptional circumstances. The National League is encouraging clubs to contact their local MP to ask them to lobby DCMS.

So what qualifies for exceptional circumstances?

Not being able to afford to pay off a loan?

I think not having a rich Chairman and surviving from week to week on gate receipts should qualify as an exceptional circumstance.

But even if we got the cash as a grant we’d have no opponents to play!!!

I would say this is a "simple" decision for the club at this point. You contact the national league and let them know that on safety and financial grounds you will not be continuing to play and bin it off. I am sure that there maybe a cost but this would surely be less than commiting the club to a loan that would, by the 30k per month figure be somewhere between 150 and 200k to finish the season. If it means we are relegated, so be it. I'd rather see the team play in the Southern League and have it survive than cause a massive problem for years to come.

The National League have dealt with this situation appallingly and I think now is the time to make a proper stand as a club.

You’d think the vast majority of clubs at step 2 will reject this ‘offer’ and would the league/FA have the balls to fine all the clubs if they refuse to play? Lobbying has been mentioned but that could take weeks and end up costing clubs even more money. Plus any matches played from now could well end up being meaningless and expunged in a few weeks time? A decision has to be made either way within days.

I think we were told that by not playing and getting fined would bankrupt the club?

To be honest, as much as i want to see STFC and the league continue, in the current climate you cant expect the government to bail out

a sporting pastime, when there are much more important monetary issues at stake for the country.

Look they've only got to shake the magic money tree !

When has any of this capitalism system made sense?

Foodbanks in the 5th richest country in the world !
